"Lula isnt that radical" Lula banned people from viewing the dollar value one time because it was hurting his popularity.
Colombia's president says Lula legitimately won the election. Everyone in the region seems to understand that Lula isn't that radical and there's something very sinister about the Bolsonaros. They aren't a normal right-wing Latin American movement.

Just when I thought this story couldn't get more insane

It is when they take your passport away and threaten to jail you for your political opinion. That is the lawful definition of asylum, actually.
Losing an election is not grounds for asylum. Yet the Trump Administration is giving Flávio Bolsonaro safe haven in the United States. In Brazil, he is under investigation for alleged corruption, money laundering and currency evasion, and was ordered to surrender his passports. The Trump Administration owes Congress answers on its role helping Bolsonaro flee Brazil in contravention of Brazilian law. apnews.com/article/brazil-fl…

Brazilian authorities and media are trying to find out where Flavio Bolsonaro is. Brazil's notorious authoritarian Judge Alexandre de Moraes -- before the votes were counted -- already had an order prepared to seize Bolsonaro's passports and bar him from leaving the country even though **he's been charged with no crime** (there are various pending financial investigations). Moraes signed the order barring Bolsonaro from leaving Brazil SEVEN MINUTES after Lula was declared the winner on Sunday night. A media outlet in Argentina this morning reported that Bolsonaro entered Argentina to fly to the US. His friends and allies deny this, but Flavio could easily just appear in Brazil or even by video and has not done so. Argentina is being sketchy, evasive and somewhat uncooperative with Brazil's federal police (Lula and Milei are obviously not allies). Whatever else is true, it is not exactly a sign of a healthy, normal or functioning democracy when the candidate who narrowly loses a presidential race -- and concedes defeat -- is suddenly barred from leaving the country by a Supreme Court Judge now globally notorious for censoring, imprisoning and otherwise persecuting his critics and opponents of Lula's government. It is also worth noting that Bolsonaro's party dominates the Senate, having run on a vow to impeach Moraes, and this is seen by many as a kind of leverage/hostage ploy by Moraes to cling to power.

What happened with immigration enforcement is that ICE stopped going aggressively after the foreign gang members and rapists populating the Communist-run inner cities, because feral leftists kept trying to commit suicide by cop and creating PR problems for the administration in an election year. But ICE still wants to keep its numbers up so the President can make good on his promises. So what do they do? They go after the low-hanging fruit: people who aren't hiding, who won't resist, who have families and jobs, and who can be picked up on paperwork irregularities. A good way to keep the numbers up, sure, and the law's the law. But we're still left with hordes of hostile foreigners taking over American cities, terrorizing Americans, and acting as a source of free votes for the commies running these sanctuary cities. A major problem that still needs to be fixed.

According to the DHS: "On October 21, ICE arrested Samuel Sey, an illegal alien ... Sey entered the United States legally in 2022 but overstayed his length of admission by over four years ... Sey has no pending applications and accepted voluntary departure." Here's what puzzles me. 2022 was four years ago. If Sey entered the country legally in 2022, how did he "overstay ... by over four years"? Let's break down the timeline 🤓 Feb, 2022: According to a July 12, 2022 tweet, Sey had lived in Ohio for "almost 6 months," so he must have legally immigrated in early February. Most B-1/B-2 visitors have 6 months, which may be why Sey mentioned that specific term. In that case, his admission would have expired in July, 2022, matching the "over four years" statement by the DHS. April 23, 2022: Sey & Annie are married in Ohio. November 21, 2022: Sey tweets that he hopes the U.S. accepts his Green Card application. So, as of this date, Sey believes that his status is pending. This contradicts the DHS statement that Sey has "no pending applications" and "overstayed ... over four years." Either 1) Sey was denied/rejected after this date AND there was a processing/notice issue resulting in him somehow remaining unaware, or 2) the DHS has a records discrepancy. December 24, 2022: Sey tweets that until his Green Card is approved, he can't visit family in Canada, stating how much he misses them. On this date, he is still under the impression that his Green Card is still pending. This conflicts with DHS's claim that Sey "overstayed ... over four years," because Nov 21 and Dec 24 are both less than four years ago. Jun 12, 2024: Sey tweets, "I can't wait till I'm able to visit all my family," in the Greater Toronto Area, implying that at this time, he still believes his Green Card is pending, and that he's unable to travel internationally until it's approved. Sept, 2025: At this time, Sam has a job as a middle school teacher at Berean Christian Academy Marion. This implies he had (or thought he had) a work visa, and I assume the school verified his work visa status. Work visas are usually valid 1-3 years. Once again, this contradicts the DHS claim that Sey "overstayed ... over four years." So, either 1) Sey mistakenly thought he had a work visa AND the school neglected to check, or 2) the DHS has made some kind of error. Over the past four years, Sey has consistently expressed the belief that he's waiting on his Green Card. He's expressed that he can't travel internationally until it's approved, which caused him to deeply miss his mother, loved ones, and childhood home. He's also had at least one job that would have required a verified work visa. Either Sey is an extremely consistent liar (AND his employer[s] failed to verify his status), or there has been some kind of honest mistake either on his part or on the part of DHS. I personally think the latter is more plausible. I strongly encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ to wait until this situation is resolved rather than risk making baseless and potentially defamatory accusations against Sey. As Joel shares below, Sey's wife, Annie, says Sey has been working with an immigration attorney for three years to manage his immigration status and citizenship process.
Update from the Seys: “My husband Samuel Sey entered the United States legally and has been working ever since in good faith with a lawyer to obtain permanent legal status. Our family is trying to understand what went wrong in the process. In the spirit of Romans 13, our family fully supports and respects American law and are prayerfully working to get him home through the legal process.”

Jennifer's careful timeline analysis seems to show why DHS's statement about Sey is likely not accurate or an outright lie. This underscores what folks like me have been saying; ICE/DHS are denying due process to non-citizens like Sey under this Administration and it's unjust.

Thank you for all who have donated! Please keep it going. We can all support ICE and support the rule of law (as Samuel unapologetically does) while showing kindness to a family dealing with such a difficult situation. This family fully believed there was a green card in process. They had submitted all their paperwork to a lawyer, and had no idea something was amiss. I appreciate the kindness shown by so many over the past few days. Too many people think our hardline stance for border security and law enforcement also must require personal cruelty, and so many of you are proving them wrong. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. ♥️
Earlier this week, our dear brother Samuel Sey @SlowToWrite was en route to appear on our podcast when he got detained by ICE. Samuel is from Canada, and has been living here as a legal resident of the United States. We are confident this clerical mistake will be fixed, but this has been a terrible experience for his family. Please consider supporting his lovely wife Annie and their three small children as they deal with the legal and living expenses of this terrible ordeal. If you know Samuel, you know what a good man of character he is. So many of us have been blessed by his writing and ministry. Please help! givesendgo.com/support-for-s…

Call me a lib but I don't think we need to deport someone who is married to a US citizen, has young kids who are US citizens, and is a productive member of society just because of a paperwork issue. Wild, I know

This will go down as Flavio Bolsonaro’s 'basket of deplorables' moment. In Brazil, it's common to hear vitriol against Lula: crook, corrupt, etc, all of which is considered banal Flavio, however, succumbed to the worst caricature of the Brazilian Right by calling Lula '9 Fingers'–an epithet used by elite opponents to refer to the former metalworker who lost a finger at 17 Lula aptly seized on this to attack Flavio for being raised raised in a gated community, never laboring a day in his life and insulting him and workers It may well have boosted his numbers in the run-off

People who have never had a friend try to legally obtain a green card and/or citizenship have no idea how complicated it can be. I know one young man who came here at 13 with his (hard-working, conservative, America-loving) Serbian family. Everyone else got a green card, and his sister became a citizen. But because of a minor tweak based on his age, they were stunned to find out at age 17 that he was not here legally. His family was absolutely panicked, believing they had done everything right. But there was no recourse. No way to fix it. He went back to his home country alone, and stayed with friends not knowing whether or not he could come back. He eventually did, to all of our great relief. Even when you are trying to do everything right, you may get it wrong. Conflicting information from different government sites, lawyers who offer divergent opinions, forms for slightly different people for slightly different steps of the process. And sometimes no way to get a direct answer from officials. I don't know what happened, but I do know that @SlowToWrite is a man of the Word. He doesn't cheat. He doesn't sneak. Pray for him and his wife and their children.
Replying to @JoelWBerry
One more update and I’ll leave it be until we get new info: In my conversations with the family it’s clear to me that they believed all their paperwork had been properly filed by their lawyer and that a green card was in process. They’re still looking into where the breakdown was.

It is not hypocritical to support ICE and be for mass deportation and also think the government is capable of messing up particular cases from time to time.

1. Brazil’s aircraft carrier is a helicopter carrier, not a fixed wing or VTOL capable. 2. Brazil’s current long/medium range radars and SAM launchers would be obliterated by EA-18s and F-35s. 3. The “4.5” gen aircraft in question is 12 F-39E’s and 1 F-39F. They have no chance.
Brazil has aircraft carriers, advanced radar, and 4.5 generation aircraft. If Delta Force DARED to step into the jungle, they’d be torn to shreds.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Venezuela operated Su-30MKV 4.5 gen aircraft, along with modern radar systems for the S-300VM long range SAM in similar amounts to current Brazilian inventory during the capture of Maduro by US forces. Brazil also operates a Helicopter carrier, not an aircraft carrier. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Su… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-300VM_m… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian…
