COMPETITION MATTERS: HUMAN RESOURCES 🤡 Everybody knows the office clown. Nobody knows him. That tension is part of why @Tabcorp_HR by @TaborRobak matters to me. A job title, a uniform, a painted smile… enough to classify someone, but how much do they actually tell us? TabCorp’s overwhelmingly white corporate workforce turns the familiar “LinkedIn guy” into something uncomfortable. Faces, professions, hierarchies, and manufactured happiness become a satire of who belongs, who gets recognised, and how individuality survives inside a system. Across these 10,000 characters, the personalities are extraordinary. Expressions, clothes, and strange details create a portrait of humanity through office culture and professional performance. The satire works because we recognise the people beneath the absurdity. We’ve met them. Sometimes we are them. Tabor’s artistic quality rewards that closer attention. A character can be funny at first glance, uncomfortable on a second look, and strangely moving over time. The exhausted clown in this video does that for me. The face in the mirror becomes the colleague looking back at you. HR also gives onchain participation an artistic purpose. Characters acquire histories through what happens to them, including Tabor’s handmade custom "portraits". A collector’s decisions can become part of a work’s development. I approach HR as a slowly growing artistic process within the practice of a significant contemporary artist. Executive status offers a meaningful opportunity to grow alongside it, contribute ideas, and take initiative. That matters even more when the community includes people who genuinely care about the art first. Learning to love HR means getting to know individual characters while discovering how they connect to Tabor’s expanding TabCorp world. @verse_works is part of that relationship too. HR feels like their office: a place where the platform, artist, and collectors inhabit the same corporate fiction. My involvement has grown from collecting into preserving a complete 90-job set, developing TabVerse stories, and connecting HR with other creative communities. Damien Hirst burns. Tabor Robak smokes. 🚬 Another fascinating art historical connection to @TaborRobak ’s Smokers Paradise. In 2021, @hirst_official introduced The Currency, a groundbreaking series of 10,000 artworks where collectors had to choose between the physical painting and its NFT. The other version was destroyed. Literally burned, in the case of the paintings. Fast forward to 2026. In Smokers Paradise, Tabor introduces a conceptual twist on this burn mechanism. The collector makes the same irreversible choice between physical and digital, but nothing needs to be destroyed. The other version simply never comes into existence. Hirst burns the artwork. Robak burns the possibility. Or perhaps sends it up in smoke? And with the smoke shop aesthetics, giant cigarette packaging and cigarettes added to Human Resources NFTs, the humour becomes another layer of the artistic concept. Smokers Paradise by @TaborRobak is a prestigious NFT art collection AND another contemporary art masterpiece. The more I study this project, the more I see how carefully constructed and multi-layered it is. The devil is in the details... and the depth beyond the surface exists in the juxtaposition of parallel dimensions, reflecting Tabor's remarkable ability to adapt and compress "data" into a universal language. Think of Rauschenberg's Erased de Kooning Drawing (1953). Tabor takes iconic copyrighted anime posters and covers them with digitally rendered glass fruit and heavy impasto-like gestural painting. The original imagery is partly erased, as a symbolic intervention into the tradition of cultural exchange between East and West... Like Hokusai to Van Gogh, but in our post-internet body of work. Closer to our time, there's the obvious Burnt Banksy NFT (2021) parallel. Physical vs. digital, originality and scarcity. Except here, the collector makes the irreversible choice: one unique artwork exists either as a physical print or an Ethereum NFT. Never both. And with the NFT comes something more: part of this artwork can only be experienced through Web3, NFTs and onchain interactions... resulting in a handmade intervention by Tabor into the collector's Human Resources NFT. An existing artwork becomes part of another artwork's history through provenance... Community participation, provenance and scarcity become artistic materials. Add the dialogue between Japanese anime, Western art history, consumer culture, CGI and AI-assisted image-making. Look at the brushwork and details, how naturally the digital tools make these works feel like some weird form of futuristic painting, twisted into the mystery of what it means to paint in the extended field of painting. Heavy impasto is a suggestion of this... and with digital art, the concepts of "brush" and "paint" can lead to something unexpected. Tabor isn't simply making images and selling them as NFTs or prints. He's applying the logic of contemporary art to the structures of NFT culture itself. The collecting mechanism isn't separate from the artwork. It's part of the artwork. And that, to me, is what makes Smokers Paradise much more than a collection of 100 images. Best of both worlds...
