Demographic intelligence is business intelligence.
Whether a country has a young and growing population or an ageing workforce, businesses face the same question: how do we attract, support and retain the people we need?
During our first #UNGA side event, we heard successful examples of companies using demographic data to better understand their workforce—and design support ranging from sexual and reproductive health and parental leave to menopause and healthy ageing. The results: greater employee satisfaction, stronger retention and higher productivity.
The next step is to amplify and scale what works.
Thank you to our partners from Sweden and Finland and to our excellent panelists. Through @UNFPA’s Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business, we invite more companies to join us and turn evidence into action.

Today, I joined Statistics Sierra Leone and partners for the High-Level Joint Census Technical and Advisory Committee Meeting, where the National Cartographic Mapping Completion Report was presented, a major milestone toward the December 2026 Population and Housing Census.
As the geographic backbone of the Census, the completed nationwide mapping will help ensure every person, household and community is counted, providing reliable data for sound policies, effective planning and equitable development.
I am encouraged by the inclusive process involving government institutions, political parties, civil society and development partners. UNFPA remains committed to supporting Statistics Sierra Leone and is grateful to the Governments of Iceland and Ireland for their generous support.
