Codex switched from English to Chinese mid-thought without prompting, in thread where I only typed in English… interesting 🤨

People with zero imagination and knowledge always ask “how is it useful?”
With their imagination, nothing.

It’s cool that I can just give muse the before and after photos of my lunch (plates). And it adjusts how much I actually ate. It’s really good at counting and seeing the difference but prolly not as good at estimate calories but it’s cool!

Old friends are the best friends. Jensen rocks. The Star Mind computer being co-engineered by SpaceX and Nvidia is far better than almost anyone expects and will reach volume production next year. Working with the incredibly talented Nvidia engineering team is pure joy!
Jensen Huang says he loves working with Elon Musk, and reveals their engineering teams are designing a new type of server to put data centers in space “I’m delighted that I love working with Elon. He’s using our technology for his own AI in training models and such, deploying models, of course." "Grok Bot is super cool. The demand for Grok Bot, the consumption for Grok Bot is really skyrocketing. And then, of course, he rents it." "And so the combination of these three things, he’s fairly unique in doing that. I guess Google does that. That would be yet another example." "And so I think he also has the advantage that he loves the intersection between computing and the physical buildouts. He loves that whole area. Nobody knows more about energy than he does." "One particular new market that we’re going to go explore together is putting data centers out in space. Our two engineering teams are working super closely together to create a new type of server, a new type of architecture that might be super good in space and on Earth.”

If your first response to the Tesla Roadster is "is that safe??", you've lost all sense of wonder. Safety is not and never was the meaning of life. I'd happily spend a few micromorts on a flying car. (Also, Tesla has a sterling safety record, so probably won't even need to).

Getting my first real exposure to multi-agent development workflows recently and… well, nothing I say will be new, but: 1) This is clearly the future. 2) Oh we’re going to buy so much inference. 3) Barely feels like software engineering but I end the day intellectually spent.

Jensen reveals he first met the Founder of TSMC by cold calling their number off Yellow Pages "I heard about this company in Taiwan, TSMC and UMC at the time. They were of course quite poor companies themselves, and they were barely making it." "TSMC was probably about $300 million, something like that. It's a tiny little company. I heard about Morris Chang. And so I tried to call their US office." "Back in the old days there were yellow pages. I looked it up, TSMC. There's a number there. I called their number and it's a recording. I left my name and my number and said a few things about NVIDIA: we're a new startup company building computer graphics chips. I called several times. Nobody called me back." "And so I finally wrote a letter to Morris Chang. Didn't hear anything for a long time, and then one day it was 6 o'clock or something, this person called and said 'this is Morris Chang from TSMC.'" "And meanwhile, everybody outside my office was playing video games and they're all laughing and screaming. 'Hey shut up! It's Morris!' I was so happy that the founder would actually call us back, because hey, maybe we won't have to die." "And so we talked and he invited me to Taiwan. I came back to Taiwan, and that was the start of everything. Not just that partnership, but just the whole industry."

Been doing annual ski trip with the same group of friends for 18+ years (minus covid time, new babies, etc). Just got the email chain from the same friend who always organizes the trip. It’s a privilege to get to see old friends year after year, even though we don’t live in the same region anymore. At the peak, we had 35 people (in our 20s) altogether in the same hilltop mansion, now it’s a smaller crowd, but with our kids. 😂
