cz telling everyone to stay off the internet for a few days is the most crypto thing ever. ai finds the bugs in an afternoon and some admins still patch quarterly
Call me paranoid, but be extra careful visiting ANY web site in the next few days, as some web admins are not always up-to-date with security patches.
Two vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) reported for PHP, the web programming language, affecting servers running popular apps like WordPress and Magento, with patches released October 21, 2026 after details leaked early.
Exploitation was confirmed in the wild soon after disclosure, prompting quick WAF protections and patching by IT teams, as unauthenticated attacks could turn visited sites into vectors for credential theft or device exploits.
Stay SAFU!

ai found the bug that's been sitting under 70% of the internet and the decels still think the risk is the ai. the risk was php the whole time
OpenAI models helped researchers—operating as part of our Patch the Planet initiative—discover critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run an estimated 70% of websites.
Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections ahead of disclosure. This duration was necessary because the fix was quite intricate and required a major change to the PHP engine. Every site using PHP can now safely upgrade their version to stay secure, in addition to applying mitigations from various security vendors.
Due to the severity of these flaws and PHP’s widespread use, we consider this bug to be one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory. It also marks a new phase, where AI can find security bugs with internet-scale impact.
This is an example of the Defender’s Window in action: to our knowledge, frontier AI was able to find this vulnerability ahead of attackers, giving defenders time to prepare.

A sunscreen ingredient used for decades in South Korea and Europe is now reaching U.S. shelves. Bemotrizinol, or BEMT is the first new sunscreen ingredient cleared by the FDA in more than 25 years. He’s spending $138 million against California’s 5% billionaire wealth tax.
He’d rather working class kids die because they can’t afford healthcare than pay his fair share in taxes. Obscene.

What’s happening in Paris and Milan is no surprise to anyone who has spent time around young people in Europe during the 2010s:
Virtually all of them were working on their 4th masters degree in social welfare, were unmarried, attended communist dinners every night, and regularly participated in riots.
Now the economy is suddenly transforming and they have nothing to show for it.

Global smartphone purchases have collapsed.
Worldwide smartphone shipments dropped -22.0% YoY in Q3 2026, to 255.3 million units, their largest quarterly decline on record.
Samsung's shipments fell -5.8% YoY, to 57.8 million units, while Apple's declined -4.0% to 57.3 million units.
At the same time, Xiaomi shipments fell -29.2% YoY to 30.7 million units, Oppo dropped -34.5%, to 25.6 million units, while Vivo fell -31.5%, to 19.1 million units.
This comes as memory costs have surged +350% since last year, driven by AI-related demand, putting further pressure on smartphone manufacturers.
As a result, soaring component costs are forcing vendors to raise prices and reduce budget-focused offerings, with consumers increasingly keeping their existing devices for longer.
Global smartphone sales are contracting amid surging prices.
