Surgeons remove your natural eye lens completely and replace it with a plastic one. Most patients see better the same day. A cataract clouds the eye’s natural lens, scattering light and blurring vision. In modern phacoemulsification, the surgeon makes a tiny self-sealing corneal incision, opens the anterior capsule with a precise circular capsulorhexis, then uses ultrasound to break up and remove the cloudy lens. A clear foldable intraocular lens is inserted into the empty capsular bag. The procedure usually takes 10–20 minutes and restores sharp focus in most patients the same day.

Many women notice pelvic heaviness or a bulging sensation and attribute it to normal aging. Medical Examination, however, reveals some degree of uterine prolapse in up to half of women over fifty.
