On what wouldโve been Alan Rickmanโs 80th birthday, letโs toast an iconic screen villain. No, not the one who shops at John Phillipsโthe other one: the Sheriff of Nottingham. Itโs like Alanโs in a different movie from Kevin Costner. And honestly? Iโll take Alanโs.

Behind the scenes of โSense and Sensibilityโ, 19 June 1995
โThis was a tough day. I kind of knew it would be. Antagonism and negativity took familiar toeholds and this was added to far too much schoolmarming from Emma. I cannot puppet this stuff. Or any stuff. Liz Spriggs noticed the nerve-endings and her arms slipped round my waist.
Later a drink in the bar with some of the sparks [electricians] was a real pleasure. They so enjoy their life and the people they meet. Not a trace of cynicism.โ

Some actors play emotions. Diane Keaton lived inside them.
Diane Keaton embodied the contradictions of being human: funny and fragile, bright and bruised, always achingly honest. For decades, she filled every frame with warmth, wit, and wonder. A Best Actress Oscar winner and four-time nominee, her presence shaped generations of storytelling. Her spirit will live forever on screen, and in the hearts of all who saw themselves in her.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our founder and friend Robert Redford.
Bobโs vision of a space and a platform for independent voices launched a movement that, over four decades later, has inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema in the U.S. and around the world.
Beyond his enormous contributions to culture at large, we will miss his generosity, clarity of purpose, curiosity, rebellious spirit, and his love for the creative process.
We are humbled to be among the stewards of his remarkable legacy, which will continue to guide the Institute in perpetuity.

ALT Leslie Higgins, Rebecca Welton, Keeley Jones, and Ted Lasso sit side-by-side in a corner booth at a BBQ restaurant. Leslie, Rebecca, and Keeley are all looking at Ted, who is looking back at them. On the table are plates of food and glasses of water and soda.
