He is extremely intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for his/her mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Orlando appreciates attention and petting and has opened up significantly and settled into interactions and soliciting attention while he previously was fearful or stressed in the shelter. He previously displayed significant overstimulation which may partly have been due to his level of FAS and adjustment to a new environment. He may be a little more conflicted or unsure as he adjusts and may need time to warm up to hisnew home and will require some patience and experience should he display some of his old behaviors. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an adult only home with an appropriate home set up to allow him to spend as long as he needs to fully decompress. A volunteer writes: I love it when cats knead to themselves. It looks like the most welcoming of kitten greetings, an adorable effort to make friends or a way to show the comfort and happiness they find in their world. Orlando seems to knead as a way of processing some very big feelings and while this makes him look very approachable, Orlando's preferred version of approaching means something a little different in the shelter. We don't know much about his life before the shelter as he was brought to us by police, but Orlando likes when we bring him treats and toys. He's eager to flop over onto his side when we pet him with our scratcher tool, but less so when we pet him with our hands. Orlando would love a chance to meet you and show you his kneads and the love he has in his heart.❀️ 😻❀️ 😻❀️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke πŸ’”πŸ˜ΏπŸ™Thank you

We have assessed that Fudge is missing part of his left hind leg and there is a wound present there that appears chronic. Fudge will need close monitoring of this wound to ensure it is healing appropriate and will require further follow up with outside vet care. If the wound does not heal and/or if Fudge is having trouble getting around, he may need the remainder of his limb amputated. Fudge has allowed all handling and seeks attention during their exams. This evaluation/diagnosis means that FUDGE will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ NYCACC NOTE: Under his box, Fudge boy is laying with his body/face neutral; when i entered he looked up with neutral eyes and leaned forward slightly to sniff the tool that i held out. He started to sniff around when i offered treats and i was able to slowly coax him out a bit as he followed the treat forward. He quickly started to enjoy and allowed me to pet all over his head, cheeks as well as down his back/body with no reaction. ❀️ 😻❀️ 😻❀️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke πŸ’”πŸ˜ΏπŸ™Thank you
