I went to a perfume class and the guy making my scent asked which turńs me on and I answered way to honestly.. My roommate signed us up for this bougie perfume-making workshop downtown as a birthday thing for me. Little glass bottles everywhere, dried flowers, oils in brown droppers, the whole place smelled like a garden had sex with a library. The guy running it was maybe twenty-eight, tattoo sleeve on his left arm, apron over a black t-shirt, and he had this low voice that made everything sound like a secret. We started with base notes. He walked around the table explaining scent profiles and when he got to me he put a strip of paper under my nose with something musky and said "what does this remind you of." I said "the guy I hooked up with last month" without thinking and my roommate almost knocked over a bottle of bergamot laughing and he just smiled and said "good, we're getting somewhere." Then he asked me what turns me on. Like, actually said those words. "What turns you on, physically, emotionally, I need to know what your body responds to so I can build the scent around it." And everyone else at the table was paired off talking about lavender fields and ocean breezes and I was sitting across from this guy trying to describe what makes me wet without using those words.
