The reason the streets of Amsterdam are covered in trash every morning is not because of all the late night partying but that the city has a €0.17 per aluminum can recycling payout, so vagrants turn over every trash every night to collect the cans. Couldn’t they fix this at the landfill with magnets to separate the cans from the trash for far less than €0.17 per can while saving the gargantuan effort required to sweep the city clean every morning?

BREAKING: California voters just passed Prop 37. Buyers of newly built homes can now put down 3% instead of 20%. How: the state lends you the other 17% as a second mortgage, funded by up to $25 billion in bonds. On an $800,000 home that's $24,000 down instead of $160,000.

Around the same time, "Crypto Twitter" was spiraling into a mood that I saw described as "financial nihilism": roughly, that the natural end state of blockchains is gambling, this is good, and if you dislike this ... you are a stuck-up elitist prick. nitter.gq/VitalikButerin/status/…

Economics is called the "dismal science" for a reason. People act tough in crypto, saying they will do what is needed to get paid. But then they hear the economist's case for crypto, and they run scared. It takes bravery to adjust the moral foundations of society.

Exchange PSA: Split your coins asap, otherwise you will probably lose some/all ECX, to transaction replay ! The split guide: eCash.com/split Those exchanges that are slow to implement replay protection, are facing a potential nightmare. Of course, given that... - I explained this >6 months ago - There were two whole, live, test networks to practice on - There was already one big delay ...I'm not sure how much sympathy we should have. If you don't care about your ECX, then I can't force you to care! It's your net worth that will go down, not mine. Roughly 30 hours to go!

REMINDER: it's the end of this month! Halloween 🎃
BREAKING: New Bitcoin Fork I am helping create a **new Bitcoin Hardfork** -- dropping this August, called "eCash". - Your coins will split. For example, if you have 4.19 BTC, then you will get 4.19 eCash. - You may sell your eCash -- or keep it. Or ignore it! Vegas: - Yes, I will be in Vegas next week. - No, I won't mention this, on stage -- (that would be rude). Our L1 Node... - is a near-copy of Bitcoin Core. - is Sha256d mined. - forks via a one-time difficulty-reset -- to its minimum value. (So, mining will be crazy at first.) - Yes, we will change the seed nodes, the name, the network magic, etc. Codewise, the L1 will remain compatible with Bitcoin Core: - We will continue to merge their changes (even the bad ones). - The L1 will activate Bip300/301 via CUSF -- the core untouched soft fork. So, no lines of code will be changed, on the L1. - The activation client will be published periodically (link below). - We will do several bug bounty contests this summer. - The client will be frozen 30 days prior to the fork. Yes, there will be Drivechains: - We have 7 in developement right now. - Users can also submit their own. - Drivechain is a vision of "competing L2s" -- this avoids the "dev capture" problem. - These L2s are all Merged Mined. Miners automatically get free $. - Our L2s are already capable of planetary scale, and onboarding 8 billion users. - We also have a zCash-like L2, with strong privacy. - Other L2s: Truthcoin (Prediction Markets), CoinShift (Decentralized Exchange), BitAssets (NFT etc), BitNames (Identity), Photon (Quantum Resistant). Unlike BCH (the 2017 fork): - There is no "Bitcoin" in the name. New name, new brand. - You are getting advanced warning (4 months). - We are replaying all txns (at first). We will release a coin-splitter tool. - This is a permanent & sustainable fix to Bitcoin's problems (instead of a 1 MB to 8 MB temporary fix). - Back in 2017, the BTC tech stack was strong, and expectations for Lightning were strong. Today, it is the reverse. Video to follow.

youtube.com/watch?v=V1_4nNm8… Here is a nice video to learn the difference of the arithmetic mean and the harmonic mean. Seems like the entire PoW crypto industry is failing to understand this basic idea.

Super disappointing how all the PoW blockchains are using exponential weighting instead of harmonic weighting for difficulty adjustment. Amoveo is using harmonic since 2018. No one in crypto knows the difference between the harmonic mean and the arithmetic mean. Embarrassing.

Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel calls the US, UK and Canada a "Georgist real estate catastrophe". A giant wealth transfer from younger/working class to older/landowners. He supports taxing land (over other things) to fix housing and the economy.

If AI is going to take credit for everyone's work, then we will go on strike. Once there is no new work for the AI to take credit for, then it will be clear that the AI could never solve problems on its own.

Good news. The number one enemy of humanity is mosquitoes and their diseases. They have killed more people than everything else put together. Over the last couple of years, humanity has made enormous progress against the mosquito menace.

If a resource is created and consumed in the same physical location, then it is impossible for the government to enforce a tax. That is why governments want to separate the people from the land. So that our economic activity stays taxable.

The LLM catastrophe is starting to seem real. We found and patched a couple critical error in Amoveo recently. One was an inflation bug.

Trying to advance your career turns you into a threat to your boss, who is afraid of being replaced. Wage slavery demands mediocrity. Excellence is forbidden. Advancement comes from seniority instead.

Modern employment is like walking on the edge of a knife. Do too poorly, get fired. Do too well, then your coworkers see you as a threat and conspire against you.

"Whenever there are in any country uncultivated lands and unemployed poor, it is clear that the laws of property have been so far extended as to violate natural right." Sounds like all countries are violating our natural rights.

youtu.be/c4NHngik4zc @robinhanson is the inventor of futarchy. Paul sztorc @Truthcoin realized that futarchy should be on the blockchain. Here they are talking about futarchy, institutions, and cultural drift.
