What most people don't know: when you fill up a petrol car most of the energy never moves it.
Petrol car: 13–21% of the crude oil's energy reaches wheels.
Electric car on today's UK grid: 43–45%.
Electric car on wind+solar: 77–80%.

Update on South African Renewable Energy Masterplan implementation
The Executive Oversight Committee on the South African Renewable Energy Masterplan (SAREM), chaired by Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy, Alexandra Abrahams, met on Wednesday to discuss progress and endorse key research and strategic documents
that will advance the goals of the SAREM. The Committee is comprised of representatives from government departments, industry associations, labour unions, and stakeholders
from across the renewable energy sector.
Deputy Minister Abrahams said: "SAREM comes at an important point in the
transformation of South Africa's electricity sector. For me, the starting point is straightforward: our energy transition must ultimately work for the South African consumer and for the South African economy. That means keeping accessibility and affordability
firmly in view."

A solar plant in one SADC country can run a mine in another. Electricity wheeling makes it possible and lets Zambia and Zimbabwe spread hydro risk across the region.

Now THIS is incredible. 26 decommissioned wind turbines from Scotland's first commercial wind farm were - wait for it - 99.9% recycled?!!
Less than 0.1% of their materials into landfill. And 100% of the recycling taking place here in the UK!
Blimey. What a game changer.
Two wind facilities made up 568 MW of the 804 MW registered with NERSA between April and June. About 94% of that capacity connects to the Eskom network.
Registration is a step. Delivery depends on the grid.

⚡Electrification is becoming central to the global #energytransition. Electricity’s share of final energy consumption is projected to reach 35% by 2035 & over 50% by 2050, w/ most new demand met by #renewables. More in @IRENA’s report ➡️ irena.org/Publications/2026/…

Wind and solar generation is scaling faster than any other electricity sources in history.
This is the time it took for different technologies to grow from 100 TWh to 1,000 TWh of annual electricity generation.
✅ Solar took just 8 years
✅ Wind took 12 years
✅ By comparison, gas took 28 years and coal 32 years
And look to the world’s biggest nations: India 🇮🇳 in 2026 became the second largest solar market in the world and the third largest renewable nation. In China 🇨🇳 this year for the first time installed solar capacity passed coal capacity. True milestones!
Yet another piece of great news: The price of battery tehcnoloy is falling at a pace similar to the fall in price which made solar and wind so competitive.
The drive to renewables is supercharged by the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.
Only the most stubborn fossil fuel advocated can be in doubt - humanity is in the midts of the leap from the age of fossils to the age of solar and wind. How wonderful!
