We need specific diagnosis. Too many people diagnosed with ‘dementia’ or ‘young onset dementia’ (people know they are aged under 65!) or lazily diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when it’s not. No one is ever just diagnosed with ‘cancer’. A specific diagnosis requires specific support.
Newly published NHS data reveals the prevalence of various dementia types diagnosed in England.
It's a step in the right direction but more needs to be done especially in the recording and diagnosis of those living with rare forms of dementia. Read more theguardian.com/society/2023…
