I think the funniest part about A24 Music is that all the trendy artists they're signing always have much cooler peers. They have a chance to sign a real generational artist, but always stuck with the 17th or 18th best, so when they do get decent acclaim, it looks like payola.

Twenty One Pilots occupies an interesting spot in music because they suck but they were also the first mildly interesting thing a lot of very sheltered kids ever encountered so people cut them an undeserved amount of slack

clancy and trench have like 3 pretty good songs each and the rest is poorly written theatrical indie rock/pop but with the way you see people talk about those albums you would think they made the craziest career turnarounds ever. all they really did was stop rapping as much lol
