Belarus will place Russian missiles in its territory creating a much shorter flight time to hit Ukraine and also increasing the ballistic missile threat far into NATO airspace raising tensions.
Ukraine has warned it will strike launch locations in Belarus as legitimate targets.

Many thanks to @TheAtlantic and @anneapplebaum for their support of Ukraine and the Kherson region at this critical moment.

✈️🇵🇱🇺🇦 Poland to transfer two more MiG-29s and ammunition to Ukraine
This is a new package of military aid worth about 50 million euros. The Polish Ministry of Defense stated that one of the fighters has already exhausted its resource, while the second is still airworthy.
The package will also include 155 and 152 mm artillery ammunition, ammunition for F-16, and missiles for Perun. The transfer of two MiG-29s is planned to be carried out "in the near future".

Last I checked, the ballistic missile launchers inside Russia aren’t being used to deliver humanitarian aid. In case that was unclear.
Yes, Starlink has done more for Ukraine than any other private company. @elonmusk deserves credit for that. But he should also let it operate within the parameters of his own policy of self-defense.
Enable Starlink over Russia so Ukraine can target the mobile ballistic missile launchers being used to kill innocent civilians. That's a legitimate defensive mission. It's also exactly the kind of pressure Putin needs to feel if we're ever going to get a serious peace deal.
Not doing it *is in fact prolonging this war.* Not the other way around. Putin keeps going because he can, and because he’s f***ing crazy. Ending this war means establishing the right leverage.

I wouldn’t want to be the Greek shipowner who’s transporting the Russian diesel to the US right now. Only congress has the authority to lift sanctions (regardless of Trump’s executive order) and this shipowner is in a potential world of legal problems in the future if he unloads the oil in the US.

A horrific Russian strike on the railway station in Dnipro. The Russians launched a drone attack on a platform where an ordinary commuter train and a scheduled passenger train were standing. Unfortunately, 13 people have been confirmed killed as of now. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Ten more people were injured. All necessary emergency services are working at the scene.
Just how many terrorist strikes has Russia carried out against our people since sanctions were lifted on certain Russian oligarchs and the Russian energy sector, rather than de-escalating? This is precisely why Ukraine has always said that just and decisive action by America and Europe is needed in response to Russian escalation – sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be eased for as long as this Russian war continues. It is time for new, stronger sanctions steps by the EU, the United States, and the G7. I thank everyone who is ready to help in this way.

🇬🇧🇵🇱🇫🇮🇳🇱 FOUR NATO ALLIES MOVE TOWARDS JOINT DEFENCE PROCUREMENT
The UK, Poland, Finland and the Netherlands have announced that they will begin formal treaty negotiations to establish the Multilateral Defence Mechanism (MDM), aiming to make it operational in 2027.
The proposed mechanism would:
• Pool demand for weapons, ammunition and military equipment.
• Enable joint procurement and financing.
• Support shared stockpiles and defence supply chains.
• Reduce procurement costs and provide industry with more predictable, long-term demand.
The UK has already earmarked £400 million towards its contribution.
The bigger picture: Instead of European countries placing fragmented orders for similar equipment, the initiative aims to leverage collective purchasing power, strengthen industrial capacity and improve NATO interoperability.
A potentially significant step towards more coordinated European defence procurement.

1/ Vladimir Putin seems to have decided that protecting his palace at Valdai is more important than protecting Russia's vulnerable factories and oil refineries. A few bold Russian warbloggers are questioning why scarce air defence assets are being diverted for Putin's benefit. ⬇️

Russia is demanding a large decrease in the size of the Ukrainian military, full control over the Donbas and no NATO membership or security guarantees from NATO states post war as a key points in ending the war in Ukraine.
That is insane…

President Trump and I are on the same side when we speak about ending Russia’s war, but we see different instruments for achieving that goal. My philosophy is that Putin is a deeply Soviet person, both in his reality and mentality. We know it because my generation was born in the Soviet Union. When Putin is lying, we feel it. We were neighbors with the Russians for so many years. That's why I think we understand the Russians more clearly than the United States.
The United States, considering global security, can discuss with the Russians different topics. But we understand the mentality of both Putin and the Russian people, their soldiers and civilians. When they are ready to do something, and when they fear Putin because they know they can be imprisoned. If they don’t go and kill Ukrainians, Putin will sanction them in his own way.
Therefore, President Trump supported us on some topics, while on others we have different views.

"There’s no news about Patriot missiles, and frankly, nobody is even asking about production licenses for them anymore.
Interestingly enough, we were never granted licenses to produce these missiles because our "partners" in the US fear that if we scale up production, a bunch of countries will no longer depend on the US—and they can't let that happen at any cost!
Someone is terrified for their profits, while we're over here fearing for our lives.

🇺🇦🇩🇰 UKRAINE TAKES FIRST STEP TOWARDS ITS OWN SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
Ukraine's HIMERA and Denmark's GomSpace have confirmed that OBRIA NANO, the first test satellite for Ukraine's future sovereign communications network, is now operating in orbit.
Key details:
• Launched aboard SpaceX's Transporter-18 mission on 1 October.
• Currently undergoing in-orbit testing to validate technologies for the future OBRIA constellation.
• Operated under Ukrainian control.
• The long-term goal is nationwide satellite communications coverage, complementing European networks.
• Future plans include manufacturing satellites and ground terminals in Ukraine.
The strategic significance is substantial.
Ukraine currently relies heavily on foreign-controlled satellite communications infrastructure. OBRIA aims to reduce that dependence and give Kyiv greater control over a critical wartime capability.
This is still a technology demonstration, not an operational national network.
But it marks an important first step towards Ukrainian technological sovereignty in space.
