I genuinely believe that we’ve designed one of the most beautiful homes in London.

Liam O'Flaherty, writing in the 1920s, on why Americanisation happens and the future of American civilisation vis-à-vis Europe
Americans seem to float in a space outside of history. No past or future. They do not ‘dwell’ in a place in the Scrutonian sense, but simply exist. These eternal forces still remain, however, and impact their lives quite powerfully but it leaves them with nothing but confusion.

Fuair mé leabhar meánscoile a úsáideadh ar scoil sna 80í agus bhí traidisiún liteartha na Gaeilge mar chuid den chúrsa, an dán díreach san áireamh.Anois ní bheadh aon chur amach ag daltaí scoile ná ag éinne ar an dán díreach cé gurbh é an príomhmhodh liteartha ar feadh 400 bliain

Self-described 'Extremely Sensitive Young Man' weighs in on declining Chipotle quality. He has written an entire book.
I've been eating at different Chipotles all over the country and I can affirm this is 100% true. All the workers at every Chipotle seem dead, and the food just gets worse and worse. It's eerie... I don't see it so consistently in any other fast food

It didn't always - it's a very new thing and in my view derives from the rise of post-Lemass materialist gombeenism - and liberalism too. Desmond Fennell skilfully refuted claims by Garret Fitzgerald that the Irish were characterised by a general disinterest in abstract ideas.

RTE is on in the house right now. Amazing. Absolutely no mention of the Triple Lock by them. They went from platforming people like Laffan, O'Brien, O Brennan in a completely one sided manner to radio silence on the topic. RTE is an absolute disgrace of an organization.

“During the Rule of Qing Qing Qu of the Tong Dynasty, General Ming attempted to move the globe without consulting the History Scholars. He broke it. This is why we say the proverb ‘A generals arm cannot move the earth without the hand of a scholar.’ 10 million died from the resulting defeat to the Iranic horde.”
This is like one of those things that appear in premodern historical accounts of wars that later historians dismiss as an on the nose literary fabrication

One thing I find so unconscionably awful is the normie idea of a "break-up." I can't imagine spending years loving a person and then saying "yeah, just pretend I never existed." If suicide is murdering the future, then a break-up is killing your past. It's a totally inhuman act.

Being a former Ron Paul Revolution guy feels like being the last of the Mithraists or something. No one remembers this but we owned the internet in 2012; every site was wall-to-wall Ron Paul content. Now we've been driven so deep underground it's hard to believe we ever existed.
