THE 90TH MAK GUILD

CELEBRATING A MAKERERE ALUMNA MAKING A DIFFERENCE ON THE GLOBAL STAGE When one of our own is recognised on the global stage, it is a moment for the entire @Makerere community to take pride. Dr Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka @DoctorGladys , a proud alumna of Makerere University and Uganda's first wildlife veterinarian, has been named among the Top 5 CNN Heroes. This recognition celebrates a remarkable journey of commitment to wildlife conservation, the protection of endangered mountain gorillas and the empowerment of communities living alongside them. For us at @Makerere , this recognition is particularly meaningful. Dr. Gladys is not only an accomplished professional whose work continues to put Uganda on the global map; she is also part of our alumni community and has remained connected to the University, participating in alumni engagement activities, particularly within the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity (CoVAB). Her journey is a powerful reminder of what our alumni represent: the knowledge, leadership, service and impact that extend beyond the University and contribute to the transformation of communities and society. As the Makerere community, we have an opportunity to celebrate her achievement and support her in this global recognition. I therefore call upon our alumni, staff, students and the wider Makerere family to rally behind Dr. Gladys by casting your votes and encouraging others to do the same. Let us demonstrate the strength of our alumni community and the pride we share in those who continue to make a difference. Dr. Gladys, we celebrate you. Makerere is proud of you. Let us bring this recognition home! *Vote here* : edition.cnn.com/world/heroes… #CNNHeroes #OneHealth #MountainGorillas
