We are talking about the money you and your employer put in a Government bank to ensure you and me that we would have a retirement check from the money we put in, not the Government.
Now they are calling the money we put in an entitlement when we reach the age to take it back.
If you calculate the future invested value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer's contribution) at a simple 5% interest (less than what the Government pays on the money that it borrows)....after 49 years of working you'd have $892,919.98.
If you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you're 95 if you retire at age 65) and that's with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit!
If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you'd have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.

100 years ago tomorrow, a college student walked into Harry Houdini's dressing room and asked if it was true he could take any punch to the stomach.
Friday, October 22, 1926. The Princess Theatre in Montreal. Houdini, 52, the most famous escape artist alive, was lying on a couch reading his mail while another student sketched his portrait. He was already hurting. Days earlier he had broken his ankle performing his Water Torture Cell escape in Albany, and he kept performing anyway.
The student, a McGill University freshman named J. Gordon Whitehead, kept bringing up Houdini's strength. Houdini said yes, his stomach muscles could take a blow. Before he could brace himself, Whitehead hit him several times, hard.
Houdini finished the week of shows in pain. He boarded a night train to Detroit with a fever. A doctor there diagnosed acute appendicitis and told him to go to the hospital. Houdini said the show was sold out, and he went on stage anyway.
When surgeons finally operated, his appendix had already burst. In the days before antibiotics, that was almost always fatal. Houdini fought for a week, through a second operation and an experimental serum.
He died on October 31, 1926. Halloween.
Here's the twist: modern doctors say the punch almost certainly didn't kill him. Appendicitis comes from infection, not a blow, and Houdini was likely sick before Whitehead ever knocked on the door. What killed him may have been the same thing that made him great. He refused to stop the show.
The man who could escape anything couldn't escape his own stubbornness.
Would you have walked off that stage?

Why in the hell is the NFL sending American football players into Paris while the city is dealing with violent riots and civil unrest?
The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints are scheduled to play there Sunday, despite serious security concerns.
The NFL says they’re increasing security. Wonderful. But why put these players, coaches, families and fans in that position to begin with?
These men signed up to play football, not navigate riots in a foreign country.
At what point does chasing international revenue become more important than protecting your own people?

Elissa Slotkin can pretend she's the victim all she wants, but she expressly called for the arrest of political opponents to deter their young supporters from public service.

If you want to know why America is polarized, it’s the fault of the media.
Yesterday, the Free Beacon, a conservative outlet, caught Abdul Sayed in a lie when Abdul denied his family had a connection to the Muslim Brotherhood. The FB showed a tweet by his own sister saying their mother belonged to the MB.
The revelation that Abdul lied about his family ties to a radical Islamic terrorist group was ignored by NBC, ABC, CBS’s nightly news shows. The NYT and WP haven’t covered it.
This should be a screaming front page story. Instead, the MSM runs cover for Abdul.
The American people just want to know the truth about their politicians. Instead, the media are helping Abdul cover up the truth.
