@patkunz @MDSmokyFarmer @Megarhyssa @lavoyfarmer @WheatGeerJJ I am sad about leaving but if you do want to stay in touch please reach out on Facebook.
Day 10 of the Saskatchewan wheat stem sawfly survey is complete. 81 fields completed 21 to go. This truly is the land of the living skies.
Headed to the Lake Newell Regatta with @StonyslopeBrews in tow. Sail and drink beer. Life is good.
Awesome day. The Toriaezu Nama Lager is on tap. The founders club mugs came in and we have live entertainment. Yes you should be here. #drinklocal #craftbeer

Peace Region farmers. Ag Cdn entomogists sweep about 120 canola fields in a whirlwind tour late June/early July. This acts as an early warning of pest issues. They'd like a vebal OK to enter, so pls e-mail [email protected] for info or to offer permission for field entry.
Here’s a grasshopper observation for you. It’s the third time I’ve seen this. Kochia patches that were green last fall have high populations of baby grasshoppers right now.

It's a strong odd-even signal. I have been keeping track since I noticed in 1995, and AAAF has kept detailed counts since 2003 or so (heroic field work). Here is a graph I submitted in a paper a while back. Weather does not affect it the way it affects the trends farther south.
