There have been approximately 20,000 election counts in the past 100 years. The only election winners not attending the count are Farage and Bobby Sands (who was in jail). The overwhelming majority of election winners thank the police. Farage chose to lie about the police.

I wasn’t there, however this guy was: "I’d like to put the record straight, because I was there. People often forget how the Argentine troops were treated after the Falklands War. We treated their wounded, and many would not have survived without the medical care they received. They were fed, and their officers were even allowed to keep their sidearms for their own safety. After facing each other in battle, that wasn’t easy, but it was the right thing to do. They were fed, cared for, and many were transported home on Canberra. We also cleaned up the mess that had been left behind. There was no complaining—we just got on with the job. Many of the Argentine troops were exhausted and relieved to be going home after experiencing the reality of war. They were defeated and demoralised, and many couldn’t even look you in the eye. Many of those young soldiers were more afraid of their own officers and the military junta than they were of us. They had been sent into an impossible situation by leaders who would never share their hardships. The Falklands’ climate and terrain are brutal, and the weather is unforgiving. I saw young men who were hungry, frightened, dirty, wet and cold, longing to be back with their families in Argentina. Many I spoke to, while sharing hot drinks and sweets, told me they never wanted to be there in the first place. So before anyone starts abusing me, my family or my brothers-in-arms, remember this: we were there. We experienced the full cycle of war, and we also witnessed the immense relief of the Falkland Islanders when the invaders finally left. To those in Argentina who still believe the stories told by defeated generals, I’d simply say this: many of us were there, and we know what happened. Don’t confuse propaganda with the reality witnessed by those who fought and those who surrendered. The war is over. Britain won. History cannot be changed. It’s time to stop reliving old arguments and instead focus on building a better future for the people of Argentina rather than making repeated claims over the Falkland Islands. As my grandmother used to say, “Children should be seen and not heard.” Sometimes it’s wiser to listen to those who were actually there. War tests not only courage in battle, but also humanity in victory. I am proud that we showed both. Feel free to share and comment “war is not a political football “ maybe you should try it sometime it’s not advisable Lives broken families destroyed Respect to those lost to war and those who are still fighting a war long ago." Shared as requested. Falklands #FalklandsWar #veterans

Nigel Farage v the establishment. Educated at the £30k a year Dulwich College, a trader with Credit Lyonnais. Joined the Conservatives in 1978. Fast forward to last week, where he spent 3 hours dining at Harry’s of Mayfair, the ultra-luxury private members club instead of voting in Parliament. It was revealed this week that his close aide and donor Posh George had been gifting and donating to him. He’s called Posh George for a reason - a financier from a family educated and rubbing shoulders with royalty. His speech yesterday was made at the top of Millbank, the HQ that has been used by Cameron and Blair. Oh, and watch out for photos of him sipping champagne wearing his MCC tie at Lords this week too. And he wants you to believe he’s one of you, Clacton.

HP Sauce: Parliament on the label, star of the full English, as British as it gets. American-owned since 2005, and production shifted from its home in Birmingham to the Netherlands. The English-made swap? Stokes brown sauce, made in Suffolk by a family firm. By all accounts, a cracker.

Open Letter to the President of the United States and His Administration As Mayor of Kommune Kujalleq – the region of Greenland where the majority of the country’s rare earth elements and strategic minerals are located – I feel a clear responsibility to speak plainly and without reservation. Greenland’s subsoil is not for sale through political pressure, dismissive rhetoric, or a lack of respect. Period. The interest shown by you and your administration in Greenland’s resources carries obligations – not only legal, but moral and political. When Greenland, our institutions, our allies, and our people are spoken of with disregard, trust is eroded. And without trust, there is no access. Not a single gram. As mayor, I will never accept that the citizens of my municipality should feel unsafe or uncertain about what is taking place in their own backyard – politically, economically, or in terms of security. Our land and our communities are not pieces on a great-power chessboard. Greenland has some of the strongest and most responsible mineral resource legislation in the Nordic region. These laws exist to protect people, nature, and future generations. They will be enforced in full – regardless of who seeks to operate in Greenland, and regardless of the size or power of the nation involved. They are not subject to negotiation. The Greenlandic people hold authority over their land and their resources. And if there is one thing your administration currently lacks in this matter, it is respect: respect for our democracy, respect for our legislation, respect for our allies, and respect for our people. Jobs and promises of increased revenue can never be used as currency to bypass the law or the will of the people. If mining activities are not carried out in full compliance with Greenlandic law and with genuine respect for the population, there will be no mining. It is that simple. Not a single gram of Greenland’s minerals will be extracted without order, respect, and responsibility. Sincerely, Malene Vahl Rasmussen Mayor – Kommune Kujalleq – Greenland Source: Municipality of South Greenland

We’re aware of some online rumours, to clarify, no flags were harmed during the CCTV installation. The photo shows officers fitting a camera at a local church after vandalism reports. The flag stayed put. Please share to help stop misinformation and keep the facts flying high.
No time to investigate car crime or burglaries though ☠️☠️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 #police
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Police have confirmed that they were installing a security camera in response to a Church that had been subject to recent criminal damage, and that the flag was not removed. x.com/cumbriapolice/… Mapping shows that this is a Christian Church, likely Church of England.

Chickenpox is common. Usually it is just unpleasant, but it can be severe or life threatening. A long established vaccine to prevent it will be offered to all children rather than only those who can pay. Immunity by vaccination is safer than by infection.
We're launching a chickenpox vaccination programme which will protect around half a million children each year. From January 2026, eligible children will get an MMRV vaccine to protect against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox. Eligibility will be announced in due course.
