“The UN cannot be led by a man who denied a genocide on UN letterhead and has spent his career working to silence the truth about the first genocide of the 20th century.”
ANC-International calls on Security Council members, and especially the permanent members, to withhold support from Mr. Sinirlioğlu’s candidacy in all straw polls and in the Council’s formal recommendation.

The secretary-general must be an impartial guardian of the U.N. Charter and the world’s first voice against mass atrocities. Sinirlioğlu’s record shows the opposite: decades spent advancing one government’s agenda, including the denial of the Armenian Genocide in the U.N.’s own official record.
He is widely described as a close confidant of President Erdoğan, who nominated him personally. Article 100 of the U.N. Charter forbids the secretary-general from seeking or receiving instructions from any government. Yet in nearly every crisis the next secretary-general must manage, his own government is a party or a protagonist: Cyprus, the South Caucasus, Syria and Ukraine. Türkiye continues to occupy over a third of Cyprus, a U.N. member state, in defiance of Security Council resolutions. Meanwhile, the secretary-general’s good offices lead the search for a settlement there.
The secretary-general speaks for the world on the Genocide Convention. The U.N. cannot be led by a man who denied a genocide on U.N. letterhead and has spent his career working to silence the truth about the first genocide of the 20th century. Entrusting him with the U.N.’s highest office would send a devastating message to survivors of mass atrocities everywhere.
From 26 to 31 October 2026, the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) Mediterranean Committee Meeting took place in Beirut, Lebanon, alongside a joint event organised with the MENA LATINA Network. Both gatherings were hosted by Lebanon’s Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO).
During discussions on human rights, particularly the genocide in Gaza, the ARF delegates drew parallels between the situation in Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh. They also highlighted the issue of Palestinian hostages unlawfully detained by Israel, drawing attention to the similar situation of Armenian hostages held in Baku, including their comrade David Ishkanyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation–Dashnaktsutyun (ARF). The delegates raised the question of how the international socialist movement could increase global awareness of these issues and contribute to efforts to secure justice for those unlawfully detained.
The delegates visited a Palestinian refugee camp to understand local conditions and express solidarity with the Palestinian people and partner organisations, including Fateh Youth Movement and the General Union of Palestinian Students (GUPS).

Armenia’s High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan, is reportedly seeking invitations from Armenian American churches and civic organizations for meetings across the United States. There is nothing objectionable about a government official meeting the diaspora. The question is what kind of meeting he seeks, and what our institutions are being asked to lend to it.
None of this argues against contact with Armenia. It argues against mistaking access for accountability. If Sinanyan wishes to meet our communities, let him answer difficult questions publicly: Why have citizenship procedures become more burdensome? Why does the government disparage the Church while courting its parishes abroad? Why is the government letting our prisoners of war languish in Baku? What substantive role will independent diaspora institutions have in decisions affecting Armenia? And what will change after he leaves?

ANCA-Endorsed Candidates Win Big, Azerbaijani Money Falls Short in 2026 Midterms
Armenian American voters left their mark on the 2026 midterm elections, imposing electoral costs on candidates who profit from Azerbaijan’s occupation of Armenian lands or carry Baku’s water in Congress, while ninety percent of the Senate and House candidates endorsed by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) won their called races. The ANCA’s marquee victory came in New Hampshire, where Rep. Chris Pappas defeated former Sen. John E. Sununu, who personally holds millions in a foreign company mining occupied Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

Արծվիկն իմ ճանաչած ազգային և պետական այն գործիչն է, նաև ՄԱՐԴՆ ու ԸՆԿԵՐԸ, որի կողքին ուրիշ մեկին տեղավորելու համար երկար պիտի մտածեմ ու, ցավոք, այդ շարքը շատ կարճ է լինելու։ Ցավոք, որովհետև Արծվիկի պես մարդիկ՝ շիտակ, անկաշառ ու բազմագիտակ մարդիկ, օդ ու ջրի պես պետք են թե՜ պետությանը, հատկապես` պետությանը, թե՜ քաղաքական դաշտին և թե մեզ` բոլորիս։ Մանավանդ այս պղտոր, արժեզուրկ, անղեկ ու անկարմիրգիծ մեր ժամանակներում։
Շատ եմ ափսոսում և ցավում, որ օրերս Արծվիկ Մինասյանի՝ ՀՀ մրցակցության և սպառողների շահերի պաշտպանության հանձնաժողովի/սահմնադրական անկախ մարմին/ անդամի ընտրությունը մակերեսային և էժան շահարկումների, իսկ ոմանց դեպքում՝ դիտավորյալ չարախոսության առիթ դարձավ։
Եվ, ուրեմն՝ անկեղծ մոլորվածների, կեղծ սրտացավերի և երեսպաշտների զոհ դարձածների համար մի քանի բացատրություն․
Արծվիկ Մինասյանի՝ ՀՅԴ անդամության դադարեցնել/սառեցնելը Սահմանդրության և օրենքի պահանջ է և ոչ թե՝ ՀՅԴ գաղափարներից, իր անցած քաղաքական ճանապարհից կամ համոզմունքներից հրաժարում։
Իր խոսքում Արծվիկն էլ նշեց, որ ԴԱՇՆԱԿՑՈՒԹՅՈՒՆՆ իր համար նախևառաջ արժեքային համակարգ է, որն իր անսակարկելի էությունն է։ Հետևաբար կուսակցականության դադարեցումը ոչ թե կամայական որոշում է, այլ՝ պաշտոնի անհամատեղելիություն։
Այսպես՝
1.«Տնտեսական մրցակցության և սպառողների շահերի պաշտպանության մասին» օրենքի 32-րդ հոդվածում ամրագրված է․ «Հանձնաժողովի անդամը չի կարող լինել որևէ կուսակցության անդամ»։
2.Հանձնաժողովի անդամի քաղաքական չեզոքությունը/անկուսակցականությունը/ նաև սահմանադրական պահանջ է, որով ապահովվում է ինքնավար մարմնի անկախությունն ու անկողմնակալությունը։
3. «Տնտեսական մրցակցության և սպառողների շահերի պաշտպանության մասին» օրենքի 29-րդ հոդվածի համաձայն հանձնաժողովի 6 անդամներից 2-ի թեկնածությունը վերապահված է ընդդիմությանը։ Եվ, ուրեմն սա իշխանությունից/քպ–ից ստացած նվեր կամ գործարք չէ, այլ՝ ընդդիմություն–իշխանություն քաղաքական համակարգի ոսկե կանոնն է։
Ամենակարևորը, մանավանդ՝ Արծվիկ Մինասյանի պարագայում։
Կուսակցական անդամակցությունը դադարեցնելը գաղափարական համոզմունքներից հրաժարվել չի նշանակում։
Կուսակցական անդամակցությունը կարգավիճակ է, իսկ գաղափարական համոզմունքները՝ մարդու արժեքային համակարգի մաս։

The Armenian National Committee International has published the dossier “Armenian Hostages in Azerbaijan: Prisoners of War, Civilians, and Political Prisoners,” dated October 29, 2026. It presents the situation of the 20 Armenians whom Azerbaijan continues to hold, more than three years after the forced displacement of Artsakh’s Armenian population.
The dossier documents:
❗Trials in a military court, largely closed to observers, with the full verdicts not provided to the defense;
❗No visits by the International Committee of the Red Cross since December 2025;
❗The report of the Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture remains unpublished because Azerbaijan does not give its consent;
❗Applications before the European Court of Human Rights are still under review;
❗Responses from parliaments, governments, and human rights organizations, as well as information on failed attempts to arrange visits through third countries.
Until their release, the dossier calls for:
❗Regular, independent humanitarian access and medical assessments;
❗Unhindered contact with families and lawyers;
❗Publication of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture’s report;
❗Full implementation of the European Court’s requirements;
❗An effective investigation into the fate of at least 80 Armenians captured in 2020 who remain missing to this day.

It documents the situation of the 20 Armenians whom Azerbaijan continues to hold more than three years after the forced displacement of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).
The dossier records:
