Cryin Ryan strike again
Ryan Day said Ohio State sent Big Ten officials more than 10 plays against Indiana to review. “I don’t want to break any confidentiality of what goes on, but yeah, I think it’s fair to see we all saw — you can see the still pictures, you can see what was. Those are game-changing plays. I know they’re working hard to make sure it’s right and to get it right, but there was a handful of plays in that game that certainly were big plays.”

Try explaining to someone that played in the 89s thats not a travel. Why even make players dribble anymore?

My son’s getting into basketball cards, so I picked up some cheap packs for him to rip. Teaching him to stick to one pack a day so they last. He likes to lay them out and pick the pack. Finally, someone in this house might learn some self-control with cards.

Its 100% gambling and they created a lottery.
SCOOP: Before launching its digital rips product, PrizePicks sent a briefing to every state attorney general and met with gambling regulators to share what they were planning. It was a proactive move to assuage concerns that digital rips could be considered gambling, and may have helped lay the groundwork for broader gambling industry adoption of digital rips. While digital rips seem to meet the standard definition of gambling—the customer pays for a random chance to win a prize of monetary value—PrizePicks' view is that they are simply digitizing the age-old practice of opening a pack of physical trading cards, which isn't considered gambling under the law. “This is much more like an e-commerce transaction than it is a form of gambling,” PrizePicks chief legal officer Jason Barclay tells me. Still, Barclay says “we recognize that anything in the sports entertainment space can be subject to abuse, can be subject to addiction.” About half of Wednesday’s press release announcing PrizePicks Packs is dedicated to consumer protection measures that come with the product: Customers need to be 18 years old and the app has built in deposit limits. Users have the option to cut themselves off, a casino-industry practice known as self-exclusion. Gambling or not, the trading card market has certainly become speculative. An index of trading card values tracked by Card Ladder is outpacing the S&P 500. Trading card manufacturers promote buying card packs in search of rare cards as if they were jackpot lottery tickets. Trying to win a rare trading card by spending $2,500 on a fantasy-sports app might seem strange to some. But as an @EilersKrejcik report points out, “A generation raised on Pokémon, skins and digital goods already assigns real value to noncash assets. A $1,000 card can be a grail, a status object and an asset at once; for the right consumer, the chance to acquire it can be more compelling than an equivalent cash payout.” (video via @AldrinResearch)

Ok addicted gamblers. How many packs are we ripping to hit the flagg patch auto? I know needs in the industry hate this because it cuts into their breaking business, but its basically recreating an unregulated lottery.

Basically Geoff Wilson wants his company to be the only company that buys things and then sells them to customer chasing a monster card. Apparently he doesnt like the competition with his card shops and breaking business. Its gambling and hes helped create this in the industry
I don’t like this… @darrenrovell reports that PrizePicks was the buyer of the Flagg, Harper & Knueppel Debut Patches. They paid $13 million for 3 cards… to possibly put them in repacks?? I would MUCH rather see them go into a high-end collection. If they’re put in repacks, they’ll be resold again, and the cycle will continue. These cards are really special. They should be treated as such.

Sweating out a 14 point NBA game in the 4th quarter with 10 seconds to go because I have the spurs +13 is why basketball is a great sport to bet. Spurs cash it for me!

Auctions on ebay make me laugh. Everyone in the hobby is so focused on comps but then lots of people dont bother to look at comps on Auctions.

Anyone looking for a hobby box (or four) of the new upper deck series one hockey release? Not looking to scalp, just charge retail ($140). We opened two and had a half case, figured I’d pass the love on to my hobby friends! Let me know!

Been getting killed ripping Bowman, so I sold a box on eBay for $76 instead. Buyer paid $86.52 after shipping/tax. I lost $11 after fees/shipping. Buyer overpaid by $16. Seller lost $11. And somehow that’s still better than opening the damn box 😂 @CardPurchaser

This was so cold blooded of the camera man 😂. By the way, been to a lot of college football stadiums. I have never seen so many brand new tents, grills RV’s, truck wraps and gear as I did at Indiana. It’s like they put as order in for “the college fanbase starter kit”
