Lot of questions lately on spray drones so the new blog post covers some general considerations for drone pesticide applications that can be helpful for those interested to learn more or plan on using them!! @UGAExtension #spraydrones site.extension.uga.edu/preci…

The right lesson to draw from the past two years is not that companies have got greedier, but that workers suffer when policymakers let inflation run out of control econ.st/3CZyN9C

Once you give people the idea that all this can be done by the State, and that it is somehow second-best or even degrading to leave it to private people then you will begin to deprive human beings of one of the essential ingredients of humanity - personal moral responsibility.

Countries are not rich in proportion to their natural resources; if that were so Russia would be the richest country in the world; she has everything, oil, gas, diamonds, platinum, gold, silver, the industrial metals, timber, and a rich soil. Countries are rich whose governments have policies which encourage the essential creativity of man who in order to succeed must work with others to produce goods and services which people choose to buy. So Japan, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and so on have no natural resources but are now among the most prosperous countries in the world. The market is not a new-fangled invention of some academic economists, it is the oldest trading organisation known to man. Only a flourishing free enterprise economy can generate the higher living standards at every level and the jobs which people need if we can honestly say that they are enjoying the benefits of freedom.

We are hunting southern corn rust in Georgia, but as of today have ONLY found common rust as is this sample from Grady Co. We will post to corn.ipmpipe.org. With current conditions I think we will have a “first find” of southern corn rust fairly soon. UGA Extension

Reminder: never a good financial plan to borrow $$ for things that go down in value. Especially not at those rates...
Average interest rate (APR) on new financed vehicles in Q1 2023 climbed to a whopping 7% — the highest on record since Q1 2008 🥴 Wild. If you've shopped rates lately let me know what you're seeing... (via Edmunds)

Got another one. Find the balance between tradition and innovation. Too much tradition and you can’t succeed for being left behind. Too much innovation and you are always chasing a new thing without success. Success is found in the tension between them.

I've always been puzzled by how many abandoned and buried cities there are. What happened to entire civilizations? Now we are watching human population collapse in a number of countries. Makes me wonder if all human civilizations fail for the same reasons. What would those reasons be? My guess is that pockets of humans develop belief systems that drive success, but success creates space for diverse opinions, and then the winning mindset is destroyed. That's what is happening in America. Traditional American values -- with all its flaws -- created a strong country. Now we have the luxury of entertaining less productive mindsets that are destroying the foundation. Maybe that happens to every civilization.

As of now, the Farm Bill is projected to spend less than 12% to support production agriculture while 82% of it goes to SNAP. I asked USDA Secretary Vilsack if he supports such a low percentage going to commodity support programs. @HouseAgGOP
