When someone dies by suicide: "Why didn't they talk to someone?" "What were they thinking? But when someone tries to open up: "You're overreacting." "You'll be fine." "You're too sensitive." "That's life get on with it."

I feel like chronic illness can induce a kind of PTSD. You’re not alone. It’s a natural response. I try to remind myself it’s a remitting relapsing condition- a little spark may return to you tomorrow or the next day, or next week. When it does, notice and celebrate. ❤️

That's how control and abuse work. You change the definition, re-write someone's else story, so now every attempt they make at defending themselves is used as further proof of their own guilt. It's exactly same as narcissistic abuse, and it works with religion and politics too.

Mental health professionals who work with youth have both the ability and the incentive to engage in epistemic violence, that is, re-categorizing how they’ve destroyed the nervous system of the youth as an underlying biological defect.

To be disabled is almost always to be traumatized. It’s living in a body that can’t keep you safe. It’s doctors dismissing you. It’s family and friends abandoning you. It’s living in a society that doesn’t see your value. It’s constantly having to prove your life is worth living.

Australian Mental Health Services Prisons by another name. Predators paradise. Woman referred to MHS after telling family and police she’d experienced DV and cyberstalking - involuntarily admitted to acute MHU. "Experienced extreme trauma while incarcerated in the psychiatric ward". Male staff asking female pt going for a shower “Would you like me to help you take off your bra”? 1 woman sleeping on a mattress in a communal living room due to lack of beds. Patients not believed when they raised complaints. “They doubt people and don't view them as credible because of their diagnosis”. Multiple sexual harassment/ misconduct/assault complaints across QLD MHUs. Govt response - 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗 #Incarceration #Abuse abc.net.au/news/2026-10-07/f…

they should invent a medical system that doesn’t consistently leave you a sobbing traumatized mess after so much as a simple fucking phone call with a receptionist

I don’t think people realize how insulting it is to constantly offer unsolicited medical advice to someone who’s spent years trying to get their chronic illness under control. You really think they haven’t tried the obvious things?

Everyone who actually spends time with me- friends, nurses, NAs, college staff, university staff, people at the gym has never once suggested I am mentally ill. Only clinicians do. No one else sees illness except the people whose roles require the narrative to exist. The only ones who accept that narrative are those close to the clinicians, or tribunals of judges and specialists bound by professional duty and possibly prior loyalty to the service. In my case, that pattern is unusual.

Medical gaslighting kills and maims. Dear doctors, we don't hate you because you need to "communicate better with anxious patients". We hate you because you make the wrong decisions, deny us bodily autonomy, and kill us. Thank you for your attention in this matter!
guess who has a fucking tumor in their frontal lobe.

POV: you rolled up to your doctor with unexplained pain, and he ruled out the differential diagnoses: fat, old, and lazy, so he starts eyeing the collected works of Freud on the upper shelf.

Are you mentally ill because you spend time trying to reason with the unreasonable, because you try and get acknowledgment or love from abusers, from people who will trigger you just to avoid an honest conversation?

"This overview of the history illustrates the pervasiveness of “belief perseverance,” the psychological tendency to maintain a belief despite clear and strong new evidence that should challenge it, especially in the context of institutional incentives that favor inertia...

They start from the premise that trauma causes permanent physical symptoms. Then they consistently fail to measure the trauma of forced psychologisation and dismissal. According to *their own model*, such behaviour constitutes grievous bodily harm.

Neuroplastic used to be neuroplasticity. It just meant that your neurology was able to change (for better or worse). So… now every word is an accusation.

Many can tend to think the eventual need for and experience of 13 root canals the worst part of what happened to me The opposite Not being believed (even about what issue not or why what usual for me mattered) at early stages ‘and’ then at worsened stages was the worst part

People have been taught to take their frustrations out on those who they see as weaker than themselves. (Kids, Spouses, etc.). because there are consequences to retaliation to powerful individuals or their associated institutions (Boss, Father, et al.). There are even systems established whereby people pay or are paid to take out frustrations on those who are not the cause or source of them. (Therapist, War.).!

Long Covid kids are being casually brutalised by healthcare careerists, the ignorant and arrogant, the deeply mediocre practitioners who hide out in the safety of a toxic, but massive, and well resourced system. In any other arena this would be the stuff of immediate outrage, but it is contained by frightened hush. The silent terrifying space of paediatric “care”, where accountability is not even a twinkle in a hospital executive’s eye. Push, complain or advocate and they start to circle wagons. And, they are ruthless in their self-protection. Parents are rendered powerless or routinely removed. Parents and kids soon start to see others treated this way and identify the pattern. And what a cruel pattern it is. Sick children robbed of their supports when they need them the most. Or - parents too frightened to take their children into hospitals because of the treatment they know they’ll likely endure. One day the systemic destruction of these kids will be viewed on par with things like Church abuse coverups. Never mind not receiving appropriate medical treatment; the pure psychological damage being done is incalculable. It is not enough to just point fingers at perpetrators. Those who knew and didn’t fight to help to expose the extent of this medical travesty will have some moral reckoning to do. Our children deserve our courage. #LongCovidKids #longcovid #pwme
