Attended an insightful session by @MoneylifeIndia featuring @Tukaram_IndIAS ji today on Food , Public Health, Drugs issues that directly impact every citizen.
True change begins with awareness but a successful public movement needs collective participation and sustained action.
The lane at Meena Suthar Marg, next to BMC R/S Ward Office, #Kandivali (W), is in a terrible state. Poor road conditions & garbage dumped on the footpath are causing serious civic concerns.

A surprise visit, without any staff, was conducted today by Mr. @DighavkarKiran, Deputy Commissioner, Solid Waste Management, @mybmc, after we flagged issues at a Garbage Vulnerable Point in Khar’s Pali Hill area.
We also convened a joint meeting of Mr Dighavkar with members and representatives of citizen forums from across Mumbai.
This coffee meet was to understand city's solid waste challenges and solution and from Mr Dighavkar.
He took time and explained citizens about various policies, execution and current works taken up by BMC.
Citizens shared issues about their area and explained on various, on-ground bottlenecks in handling Solid waste across different wards.
Mr. Dighavkar has assured proactive enforcement, including strict legal action against illegal dumping of construction and demolition debris across the city.
We hope more officers from @mybmc come forward and meet citizens for a collaborative solution on various issues in Mumbai.

The most expensive part of a hospital bill may never touch the hospital at all.
A patient admitted for care has no way of knowing whether the price on a medical consumable reflects its actual cost or a markup fixed long before it ever reached the ward. That gap in information is, at its core, a public health issue.
A survey of hospital consumables in Maharashtra found an IV infusion set with a trade price of ₹11.05 carrying a printed MRP of ₹325 ; a markup of 2,841%. A syringe procured at ₹6.75 carried an MRP of ₹57.20. A catheter procured at ₹29.41 carried an MRP of ₹310.
These are not elective purchases. Patients cannot compare prices, seek alternatives, or question a number printed on a box while receiving care and the MRP itself is often fixed upstream by manufacturers and distributors, disconnected from the trade price by a wide, unexplained margin. The result is a system where the party bearing the cost has the least information to evaluate it.
The regulatory gap is structural: scheduled medicines are capped under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. Most medical devices and consumables are not leaving both the pricing and the information around it almost entirely unmonitored.
A review of these findings and clear guidelines on the permissible gap between trade procurement price and declared MRP have been recommended to the Department of Pharmaceuticals and the NPPA ; a step toward closing not just a pricing gap, but the information gap patients are left to bear alone.

Stalls demolished by BMC under pedestrain first policy in Santacruz, now rebuilt within few days. @mybmc
BMC UNDER POLITICAL PRESSURE ???
As anticipated in our post of 22nd Aug, all the stalls located on Nehru Rd, TPS3 Santacruz East, which were demolished by BMC are rebuilt the next day!
The attached pictures speak for themselves.
Interesting to note that BMC team left behind all the demolished stall infrastructure (tin sheds, plywood, planks, shelves , shutters etc) so it was very convenient for the stalls to rebuild w/o incurring heavy costs within a few hours.
BMC needs to explain this and why no criminal action has been taken on such repeat offenders.
Is BMC under political pressure??
Were only selected stalls demolished because they had not paid their hafta?
Why were other stalls occupying 100% and beyond of footpath not demolished??
Who is protecting them??

In a major crackdown on quick-commerce storage facilities, the Maharashtra FDA conducted a surprise raid on a Swiggy Instamart dark store located on Hill Road in Bandra West.
During the inspection, officials discovered severe hygiene and storage violations, including cockroaches crawling on storage racks holding consumer food items. Under the Central Motor Vehicles (Twelfth Amendment) Rules, 2026, automatic load covers will be mandatory for all tippers and dumpers with effect from April 1, 2027.
The covers must fully enclose the load body while the vehicle is in motion. An audio-visual alert will also be provided in the driver’s cabin if the cover is open or unsecured.
The measure will help prevent dust, spillage and falling material, contributing to cleaner highways and safer journeys for all road users.

The Maharashtra FDA has suspended the food licence of Blinkit’s Malad West dark store after an inspection found heavy cockroach infestation, expired food stock and multiple hygiene violations.
The action applies only to the inspected Malad facility and does not affect Blinkit’s overall food operations. The licence will remain suspended until further orders, barring the store from selling or distributing food from the premises.
⚠️ Fake e-Challan scam! Received WhatsApp demanding ₹1,000 for a traffic penalty against my correct vehicle number. Sender was a +1 US number and link prompted an APK download. @MTPHereToHelp @MumbaiPolice pls alert public & act against such fraud. Verify only officially.
