Military advantage may win a battle, but winning a war and securing lasting peace require a sound political strategy. A day before @HassanSMohamud launched the offensive to seize Baidoa and oust @Laftagareen , I warned him of the consequences. Today, he faces the fallout of mistaking temporary military superiority for lasting political control.

I share the profound grief of the families and fellow soldiers of the Somali National Army personnel killed and wounded in yesterday鈥檚 al-Shabaab ambush near Jameeco. May Allah have mercy on those who fell, grant the wounded a swift recovery, and give strength to the families who now bear the heaviest burden. They deserve the full care, support and assistance of the nation for which their loved ones sacrificed so much.
Those who fell were among the finest our nation has trained; soldiers who had spent years fighting al-Shabaab. It is deeply troubling that such experienced troops were committed to an offensive arising from a political dispute that should have been resolved through dialogue. Whenever our forces are diverted from confronting the common enemy and drawn into political conflicts among Somalis, the national fight against al-Shabaab is weakened. The group has once again demonstrated its willingness to exploit the divisions and openings that result.
At a moment of such loss, the government owes the nation a full and honest account of what happened, including the decisions that led to the operation and the circumstances in which our soldiers were exposed to this attack. Accountability is not optional, and the sacrifice of our troops must not be obscured by political expediency.
Finally, our armed forces must be allowed to focus on the mission for which they were built: defending the nation and protecting its people. Somalia鈥檚 political differences are serious, but they cannot be settled on the battlefield. They require dialogue, compromise and genuine consensus. That process must begin, before more Somali lives are lost.
Our soldiers have shown courage and made the ultimate sacrifice. They deserve political leadership that matches their courage, honours their sacrifice and puts the security of the nation above political interests.

Breaking: Heavy Losses Reported Among Federal Government Forces in Jameecada Fighting
Security sources report significant casualties among troops loyal to Somalia鈥檚 federal government, whose constitutional mandate is disputed following the expiry of its term, during heavy fighting today in Jameecada, Bay region.
The troops were reportedly advancing toward Buurhakaba, approximately 60 kilometres from Baidoa, a strategic town held by forces loyal to exiled South West State President Abdiaziz Laftagareen.
Reports indicate that the federal forces encountered several clashes and roadside ambushes while advancing along the Mogadishu鈥揃aidoa highway, disrupting their military operation.
Several officers are reportedly missing, including Mahad Caamir, a former Danab logistics commander; Anas Dheere, an armoured unit commander; Jeego, a Danab operations commander; Abdikarim, commander of Danab鈥檚 161st Battalion; and Ahmed Gaashaan, a former 7th Brigade commander. Halac, commander of the 64th Battalion, was reportedly wounded.
Security sources also claim that 36 military vehicles, including six Turkish-made Kirpi armoured vehicles, were destroyed, captured or remain unaccounted for.
Separate, unverified reports allege that Turkish aircraft mistakenly struck federal troops, potentially contributing to the losses.
The federal government has blamed Al-Shabaab for the attacks. The casualty figures, status of the missing officers and allegations of friendly fire remain independently unverified. #Somalia

#BREAKING: Hawadle Clan Reportedly Mobilizes Heavy Weapons in Beledweyne Amid Growing Opposition to Somali president
Political and security tensions are reportedly escalating in Somalia鈥檚 Hiiraan region as members of the Hawadle clan mobilize armed fighters, heavy weapons and military vehicles in Beledweyne, amid opposition to the recent electoral process in Hirshabelle State supported by federal government
According to local reports, armed groups associated with the Hawadle community have displayed heavy weaponry and military vehicles as preparations reportedly intensify for the establishment of a new regional administration independent of the existing Hirshabelle government led by President Ali Abdullahi Hussein Guudlaawe.
The reported mobilization reflects growing dissatisfaction among sections of the Hawadle community over Hirshabelle鈥檚 political leadership, electoral legitimacy and the distribution of regional power.
The developments come amid mounting federal鈥搑egional tensions across Somalia, including the ongoing political and military crisis in South West State, raising concerns about the country鈥檚 fragile federal system and the risk of further fragmentation.
