I can finally talk about Mass Effect Universe.
Since Bioware closed I can now reveal that I was part of the Mass Effect Council, saw what BioWare was building, and provided feedback during development.
• Set 600+ years after the Reaper War
• You play as a customizable N7 agent
• Instead of being a walking gun rack, you're a cross between John Wick and James Bond
• Shepard's legacy preserved, regardless of your ending
• A galaxy divided into three major factions
• Humanity, Krogan, Batarians, and more allied together
• Council races forming their own alliance
• The Geth emerging as a third superpower
• A galactic Cold War instead of another Reaper style invasion with a shadowy adversary
• Geth-built megastructures
• Connections between the Milky Way and Andromeda
• Experimental technology implanted in you as a unique point of difference
• Hacking and manipulating the environment
• See through walls, identify systems, remotely trigger hazards and more
• Handcrafted missions like ME1-3
• But with Hitman-style freedom in how you complete them
• Brutal close-range executions
• Squadmates who can clash with each other
• Romance wasn't being sanitised
• Liara returns - now an incredibly powerful Asari Matriarch
From what I saw, BioWare was making Mass Effect for us, the fans, not for people who don't exist.
It looked incredible.
And now we may never get to play it.

Critical Roll.
Bing Bang Theory is, mostly, for normies to go, "look at them nerds!" in the same way Will and Grace was there for normies to say, "lmao look at them gays!" The cultural shit is thrown in haphazardly for color.
Critical Roll is a bunch of actors playing what was previously the loser introvert game for nerd boys who got bullied in school for being loser introvert nerd boys. They hammed it up and made it more free flowing with an emphasis on larp over crunch and it led to normies getting into it during Covid. Those few who remained after the culture shock that D&D tends to involve quite a bit of theory crafting and build making ultimately pushed for that same Critical Roll experience and the trimming down of the grit in world building.
It isn't exactly shocking that the Critical Role TTRPG will match this "low crunch" and "low rolling" aesthetic, which isn't exactly a problem unto itself, but rather a sign that the Covid tourists should have considered a look at the thousand and one pre-existing TTRPG's that would have fit their desire. You know, before pushing to not have to roll to save so their "Be gay do crimes" tiefling didn't die due to their shenanigans.

TIL There are die-hard younger fans who are CONVINCED the Star Wars Prequels (Episodes I–III) were brilliant, and all us "boomers" (they mean Millennials, mostly) didn't grok the vision—
I saw Ep1 twice. It was AWFUL. It takes more than flashy sword fights to make a good movie.

I just finished building my Wing Gundam Master Grade. It's one of the most enjoyable kits I've built, genuinely a lot of fun!

A new season of the overproduced Dungeon Masters is coming, this time set in World of Warcraft.
S1 already felt more like branded television vs. a game. The only question is how they plan to make this one worse.
The production value keeps going up.
The game keeps disappearing.

An article that we debunked (& mocked) a while back is making the rounds again in Modern Gaming/Critter circles.
Now that the media has a published access piece, SparkleTrolls can point to it and say "Nuh-uh! THAT'S the way DnD is played!"
Critical Role has poisoned the hobby.
Gatekeeping is the antidote.

To all of the North American manga companies, in light of recent events I truly hope and believe that everyone here is ready for a re-release of Yoshiki Takaya’s magnum opus “Bio-Booster Armor Guyver” it’s been out of print for too long let’s bring him back! #GuyverReturns

Yoshiki Takaya made a sad announcement by way of the new release of Guyver 2: Dark Hero, he’s suffered a cerebral infarction that paralyzed his right side, this has essentially forced him to retire from manga, putting an end to Guyver, thank you for everything Takaya.

This is what you get when trying to make D&D as common as table salt.

Dark Sun is supposed to be a brutal world.
Slavery existing on Athas isn’t an endorsement of slavery. It’s part of what makes the sorcerer kings, templars and city states evil.
Fantasy doesn’t become morally better by removing evil from the setting. Sometimes evil needs to exist so the heroes have something worth fighting.
Free the slaves. Break the chains. Overthrow the tyrants.
That feels a lot more heroic than pretending the ugliness was never there.

Baldur's Gate 3 has introduced a lot of new people to the hobby.
Gatekeeping is good.
