Never again means never again. We stand up and we stand together.
For the first time in my lifetime, a lot of successful Jewish friends called me worried this week - names we all know - asking what is going to happen as these libels re-enter the mainstream, and are shared by millions. Sadly, Tucker, Rogan, Candace Owens, and others platformed slanderous conspiracies and blood libel to tens of millions of followers - maybe they all know it, maybe one or two of them are just naive and don't get it. Personally, I'm not a victim, I'm a fighter, but we know our family history, and we didn't just die in the Holocaust. Jews as a successful "outsider" minority have been hunted and murdered for centuries based on libelous anti-Semitic tropes that implied that we wanted to hurt Christians or were scheming against them. My great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents and their siblings around eastern Europe each grew up facing commonplace rape and slaughter fueled by similar lies, long before our grandparents' generation was systematically exterminated. Lucky for me, the Jewish branch of my family escaped to the USA by 1920. If you don't believe we're dealing with extreme anti-Semites and insane conspiracy theorists, just look at this quote tweet from an account with more followers than me and the replies - or the replies my post is sure to garner. Or thousands of other accounts this week, innocently asking why Jews don't care about Christian deaths around the world (we do, and Israel has worked to protect Christians, as should the USA). Many accounts are obsessed with Jews being tied to communists. I'm about as strong a fighter against Communism as you can find, not least with my work with the Reagan Library, but it's true, in response to being beat the crap out of by various regimes including the Tsar in Russia (it was once said of him he had no religion, but if he did, it was anti-Semitism) - many Jews ~120 years ago became communists. I don't excuse it - Communism is not just misguided, but applying it is evil and wrong. But it's not some wacky conspiracy, the history makes it obvious what happened and how this reaction occurred. Today, the majority of Jews have learned why that philosophy was evil, as have others: and millions of us fight for liberty and our constitution in the USA as fellow citizens. As did many Jews at the founding of the USA. It's a red herring to say you can't criticize Israel. I criticize them all the time, as do most Jews, in fact; we have a lot of opinions, and it's a horrible, complex situation that Israel as a whole generally faces with dignity and strength. But age-old blood libels of Jews wanting to hurt Christians are false, totally inappropriate, and also weird in the context of the fact that it's Islamists slaughtering hundreds of Christians and forcing them out of many areas as we speak. Jews and Christians are natural allies, and our civilization prospers when we stand up for each other and our shared values. Our enemies hope to drive us apart, but our shared understanding of the radical equal dignity of all human life and associated values led to the enlightenment and to our prosperity in the west. Our alliance is too strong for any of this nonsense to destroy.

In any interaction, always remember the strategic objective If you’re Zelensky, the goal should NOT be to win a debate, but to win SYMPATHY Yielding the debate but strengthening the relationship = a win Damaging the relationship to try to win a debate = what happened today
Vance: Have you said thank you once? Zelenskyy: You think if you speak very loudly— Trump: He’s not speaking loudly. You’ve done a lot of talking. You’re not winning this

DA Garza would never make it in the business world. Blaming someone on your team for your mess up is just poor leadership and letting a murderer free is a pretty big F* up. Come on Austin your to big of a city for small leaders.
BREAKING: DA Garza had TWO WEEKS to reassign and pursue the indictment of murderer who was let out on $100 bond (before a judge gave the DA a mulligan). It was prosecutor Mona Shea who resigned. Yesterday, Garza made it sound like he forced her resignation due to her failure. But my source does not believe she was fired as he seemingly implies. What actually happened: Shea turned in her resignation a couple of weeks ago. But he kicked her out the door on the spot. In other words, Garza made her resignation effective IMMEDIATELY and then it was GARZA who dropped the ball on getting the case reassigned. I'm hearing that he had almost two weeks to get it done before the 90-day deadline. Garza failed. And then he blamed everyone but himself.

Austin DA let a murderer walk free on $200 bond because he failed to meet a deadline. What's next for murderer? Likely more crime. Every criminal in Austin knows there are no consequences for violating bond conditions:
Austin’s DA let a killer walk after missing deadline, leaving the victim’s family terrified. “I’ve lost confidence in the system," his aunt says. "I just don’t think I can confidently say they are doing everything in their power to keep people like this behind bars.”

Great that free expression has now gone mainstream Huge credit to the founders of Substack, who held the line against censorship — even during the hysteria of 2020-2022, when it was the hardest and mattered most Every day people demanded the deplatforming of writers like @bariweiss, @mtaibbi, @micsolana. For a time, no one brought more heat than @AlexBerenson for the heresy of questioning the covid vaccine It was stressful and imposed real costs, but the the founders’ commitment to free expression never faltered Credit also goes to the many writers who resisted pressure to virtue signal by moving to worse but safely milquetoast platforms, and to investors like @pmarca and @andrewchen who were unwavering in support They and a small number of others held open the Overton window when it was truly at risk of collapse, and we owe all of them a great debt
Woah. 😲 Zuck going full anti-censorship, following Elon and X's lead 😤 Based Zuck arc and vibe shift complete ✅🔥

Engagement is crucial in learning, especially as we recognize the diverse neurodivergent ways people think and learn. Creating spaces that support this has never been more vital. This is precisely what @doublea_labs is dedicated to solving!
.@elonmusk: Generally, you want education to be as close to a video game as possible, like a good video game. You do not need to tell your kid to play video games. They will play video games on autopilot all day. So if you can make it interactive and engaging, then you can make education far more compelling and far easier to do. You really want to disconnect the whole grade level thing from the subjects and allow people to progress at the fastest pace that they can or are interested in, in each subject. It seems like a really obvious thing. Most teaching today is a lot like vaudeville, and as a result, it's just not that compelling. It's like somebody standing up there and lecturing to you, and they've done the same lecture several years in a row. They're not necessarily all that engaged in doing it. A university education is often unnecessary. That's not to say it's unnecessary for all people, but I think you probably learn about as much in the first two years. Most of it is from your classmates. For a lot of companies, they do want to see the completion of the degree because they're looking for someone who's going to persevere and see it through to the end. And that's actually what's important to them. So it really depends on what somebody's goal is. If the goal is to start a company, I would say there's no point in finishing college.

“A community platform and a Discovery platform is needed”. @soulaaangel is correct and that’s exactly what @doublea_labs has built for creators and brands!

Another way is use @doublea_labs platform to take the content you have built, bring your existing community together in one space and help them understand additional value your product can offer them and then let them feel heard.
CMO: we need to do a brand reset CEO: wtf does that mean? like a new logo? CMO: no. that'd be a rebrand. not what i'm talking about CEO: then what? CMO: first, let's define terms: the strength of our brand is ultimately measured in two ways: first, the customer acquisition we get when we turn everything off (e.g., ads, discounts, etc). second, our ability to raise prices (or reduce discounts) faster than the rate of inflation and not lose customers CEO: never thought about it that way. go on CMO: the fundamentals of our business are weakening, even though we're growing revenue CEO: well, we need growth CMO: i know we don't like to talk about it, but if we turned off our facebook ads and our promos, our revenue would fall through the floor. it's been getting progressively worse over the last 6 years, and we're not acknowledging how big of an issue it is CEO: i acknowledge that's an issue. i'm not as close to the marketing numbers, so what exactly do you mean? CMO: over the last 6 years, the revenue coming from branded organic search traffic (removing spikes and short term influences) on our online store have actually been steadily declining CEO: but we've been growing CMO: yes, we've only been growing the revenue coming from paid channels. we've been spending ad dollars to fuel our growth. that's fine if the revenue coming from organic sources is also keeping up, but it's not CEO: i don't follow CMO: we've been chasing these topline revenue growth numbers that i've allocated all of our resources (ad spend, creative budgets, etc) to driving highly-measurable short term revenue growth. this became a red flag for me last week when our facebook ads stopped delivering for 2 days and we had the worst August week 3 in the history of the company CEO: oh that's what happened?! i thought we had a bug blocking checkout or something. site was working fine? CMO: site was fine CEO: yikes. so do you now think our '24 revenue number is in jeopardy? CMO: we can hit the revenue number CEO: great! CMO: but we'll just be kicking the can down the road CEO: what do you mean? CMO: you know how i've been doing those P&L deep dives with fred (CFO) to isolate why our contribution margin has been going down? CEO: yes, but we've got big COGS improvements coming in '24 that will take that number up CMO: unfortunately, my latest rev of the forecast has our marketing costs more than canceling out gains from COGS improvements. we can only lean on existing customers for so long. we've already been over-emailing and sms-ing our list, especially existing customers. i don't know how much longer that can last CEO: so what do we do? CMO: two words...brand reset. 4 parts: 1) data deep dive to understand the true state of our revenue, 2) right-size cost structure to match the reality, 3) build our content machine, 4) systematically hack away at ways to build that resilient revenue base CEO: sounds horrible. it's gonna be the best worst thing ever CMO: yup
