I know I’m pissed but ……. Liverpool are a great club and will win the league and have been brilliant this season but the Geordies absolutely smashed them today and deserved it…. 🖤🤍

Behind-scenes NHS problems leave new doctors without jobs - BBC News … but plenty it would seem for PA’s at much higher rates of pay. This is an orchestrated effort to develop a two-tier system. bbc.co.uk/news/health-688498…

I just signed the petition calling on political parties to back an urgent poverty relief fund to help the millions of families being plunged into poverty across the UK right now. Can you add your name? 38d.gs/8kp6

1/ Important NEW report from @TheIFS Shows that doctors pay eroded more than all other public sector workers (vs private sector has recovered). They have used 2010 as a start date in the chart below, not the start of austerity.... doing so significantly increases pay loss
NEW: Doctors and experienced teachers have faced unprecedented pay cuts since 2007. The gap between higher- and lower-paid public sector workers has fallen by more than a third since 2007. Read @JCribbEcon and @LaurenceOBrien_'s Election 2024 report: ifs.org.uk/publications/rece…

A phenomenal 10 mins with Carol Vorderman on 🔥 It begins with an intro, then from 1:23 onwards, "We've had a Conservative government which is in my opinion corrupt.. During covid we have the VIP PPE lane.. Then we had partygate.." "I started digging and I just started to scratch the surface on so many Tory issues and Tory contracts. And it's like a fountain of contracts and money that goes back to Tory donors and associates" "I feel I have a responsibility that if I see something I show it to others"

Our G29 students' beautiful work curated at @Gateshead_NHS promoting organ donation answering the guiding question: "What does it mean to be human?" Special thanks to Andy for supporting this work, and to our wonderful artists in Year 8 and their teacher Ms Macphail!

“People who drive our planes” 😂😭 where do you even start with this and what it says about those who dictate NATIONAL policy!
Shaking right now! The PA debate in the House of Lords- @JimBethell said: “We have to find people from somewhere (to do GP appointments) & they’re going to be some people (Physician Associates) that don’t necessarily go through the 10 years of qualification TO BECOME A GP” 🚨

I have just finished another set of incredibly difficult weekend nights as the A&E consultant incharge. Some thoughts: The NHS no longer provides unscheduled care - we provide treatment. Care is with dignity - that's impossible for our patients in corridors. The model of acute care is not working or sustainable. We need a completely different approach - with long term investment in prevention and community care 111 need to change risk thresholds as far too many come to a&e when they don't need to. There needs to be alternative pathways to get care overnight for those who don't have accidents or emergencies. A&E shouldn't be anything and everything Staff are broke - supporting staff is just as vital as looking after patients This government have totally decimated our the NHS. They are the ones who should be apologising to our patients not our staff. Hundreds are dying each week because of lack of hospital capacity and corridor care in a&e, yet it's not on the news and no public uproar. As staff and patients we have accepted the unacceptable. Everyone needs to know the reality of what is happening - so that politicians offer a different solution and patients get the care they deserve. Sadly most of the public have no idea of what is genuinely going on. And finally, a post night fry up is the best antidote for the stresses of the weekend. Goodnight! – at England, United Kingdom

"Well, I think the question was, is Britain broken? And I think, quite plainly, it feels like we are almost in every government-administered area of our lives, things are not working." #BBCQT

The safety net that the NHS/social care is supposed to provide has been completed shredded over the past 14years. Not enough staff now to patch up the holes
NEW: we need to talk about NHS staff retention. At a time when Britain’s healthcare system is acutely short of workers, *1 in 7* UK-trained doctors are practising overseas. No other developed country is like this, which immediately tells you there’s a problem. Let’s dig deeper:
