This August, I will be stepping down from my position at Shenandoah Esports. It is a very bittersweet situation to leave my SU/VA family. I have been able to grow both personally and professionally in this university. I am thankful for all of the individuals that had a hand in this during my time here at SU. 🫶
For personal reasons, I will be moving down to Florida in the next month and look forward to exploring new opportunities within collegiate esports! I hope to return to this industry that I love so dearly.
This week I will still be attending the NACE Convention and look forward to chatting with you all soon! FL collegiate esports friends - I hope to connect in person and after the convention to learn more about all of the cool things that you do!
As for the future of Shenandoah Esports- keep an eye out on SU’s socials. We will be making announcements here shortly! I am confident in the program’s plan and goals that have been set going forward.

My friend, who lives and works in Britain, had made plans to come visit me in Texas. His oldest daughter was "tongue-tied" meaning her tongue had an over-short frenulum, so she couldn't move it freely. This is a quick easy fix - just snip the frenulum, and seal the wound. They made an appointment with the national health to have their daughter fixed up. The national health got everything set up, then gave them the date. It was right in the middle of their trip to America. They called back and said, "We told you these dates we're not available. Can't we do it another time." They were told, "You have to do it on that date or wait 8 months."
Argh. Well they didn't want to delay their trip. But before just shrugging their shoulders and giving up my friend, who worked for a university and so had private health as well, called the private health insurance to see what they offered. They set up an appointment THE FOLLOWING WEEK, and took her in, and when she woke up from the operation, her first question was "When are they snipping my tongue?" She didn't even realize it had been done, it was so painless.
He said that the private insurance was so much friendlier and easier to deal with than the national health. Did it cost more? I don't know - he got it through his work. Of course, if you're Canadian you don't have this option - private health is illegal unless you're a rich politician, who are known to go to the USA for treatment.
In the early 2000s, a Canadian mother was pregnant with quadruplets. They didn't think they could take proper care of her so they flew her by light plane to Helena Montana to a hospital where she had the kids, then flew home. Canadian health paid for the whole thing. It just seems kind of sad that apparently the best way to treat the quad-mom was to fly her 500 miles to Helena, which is hardly a giant metroplex, because Canada couldn't handle it.

renee good is the epitome of the modern-day liberal white woman
>37 years old
>lost custody of her two older children
>fled to canada after trump won in ‘24
>career as a “poet”
>moved to minneapolis from canada to fight for the “rights” of illegal aliens
>enrolled the only child she has custody of in Southside Family Charter School, who’s mission is to “put social justice first, and prioritize involving kids in political and social action”
>through her involvement with the school, joined “ICE Watch”, a national coalition of “activists” dedicated to disrupting ICE raids
>lost her life while obstructing ICE, as a result of assaulting federal law enforcement with a deadly weapon (her car)
if we want to be a serious country with law & order, anything short of outright abolishment of the 19th amendment would be a grave half-measure
this is the face of chaos, instability, dangerous empathy for criminals, and reckless disregard for the law

The IRS suspected that a fishing boat owner wasn’t paying proper wages to his deckhand, so they sent an agent to investigate.
The agent boarded the boat and said, “I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them.”
The boat owner replied, “Well, there’s Clarence, my deckhand. He’s been with me for three years. I pay him $1,000 a week, plus free room and board.
“Then there’s the mentally challenged guy. He works about eighteen hours a day and does roughly ninety percent of the work around here. He makes about $30 a week, pays his own room and board, and every Saturday night I buy him a bottle of Bacardi and a dozen Budweisers so he can cope with life. He even gets to sleep with my wife occasionally.”
The IRS agent frowned and said, “That’s the guy I want to talk to—the mentally challenged one.”
The boat owner nodded and said, “That would be me. What would you like to know?”

🚨 BREAKING: Was just sent a video showing the moments before the shooting.
In it, you can clearly see Renee Good’s vehicle blocking ICE agents for over 3 minutes as she’s dancing to her own car horn.
Kinda ruins some narratives, doesn’t it?

Sentiments of Venezuelans
I’m going to say this once, and I don’t care if it makes people uncomfortable.
If you have never lived in Venezuela
If you did not grow up there
If you did not watch your country collapse in real time
If you did not stand in food lines
If you did not watch your parents lose everything they built
If you did not have to leave your home with nothing
Then shut the fuck up.
You do not have an opinion.
Your opinion does not matter.
And you don’t get to lecture anyone about what’s happening there.
I’m Venezuelan.
I lived there most of my life until my early twenties.
I watched my country go from a functioning democracy to full blown socialism right in front of my eyes.
This is not politics to me.
This is trauma.
Before socialism, Venezuela was not perfect, but it worked.
There was trade.
There was money coming in.
There was investment from the US.
There were jobs.
There was food.
There was medicine.
My family had five businesses.
We had our home
We had investments.
We had a future.
Then the government started nationalizing everything.
Private companies were taken.
Foreign investors were pushed out.
Imports were blocked.
Price controls destroyed production.
Corruption exploded.
And everything died.
Not slowly.
Violently.
People didn’t suddenly become poor because of “capitalism” or “the US” or whatever bullshit slogan people like to repeat online.
They became poor because socialism destroyed incentives, destroyed production, destroyed trust, and destroyed hope.
People today in Venezuela are not debating ideology.
They are trying to survive.
They are trying to find food.
Trying to find medication.
Trying to keep their families alive.
So when I see people in the West posting from comfortable homes, full fridges, stable currencies, and safe streets talking about “imperialism” or “US bad” or “Trump this or that”
No.
It’s not complicated.
You’re just ignorant.
China is not rebuilding Venezuela.
Russia is not rebuilding Venezuela.
Cartels are not rebuilding Venezuela.
They are stealing.
They are extracting.
They are draining what’s left.
If the US comes in and reinvests
If refineries get rebuilt
If infrastructure gets restored
If imports open back up
If food, water, and medicine become accessible again
If people can work and earn with dignity
Then yes.
Let them take all the oil they want.
Because at least something gets built instead of destroyed.
This is something to celebrate.
Not because it’s perfect.
But because for the first time in a long time, there is hope.
Hope that families can eat.
Hope that people don’t have to flee their country.
Hope that Venezuela can function again.
If you’ve never lived through a country collapsing
If you’ve never watched socialism destroy everything around you
If you’ve never had to leave your home because staying meant starvation
Then again
Shut the fuck up.
This isn’t theory.
This isn’t politics.
This is lived experience.

I don't say this lightly but Steam is quite literally the only company I am okay with having this monopoly.
There are so many ways they could use steam to generate more money. I see every opportunity for them to exploit their userbase and they choose not to.
They have exceptional customer service, steam charts are public (something MANY companies would rather not be public to hide embarrassment), ludicrous deals for games several times a year, banning in-game ads, making it a requirement for developers to say whether or not they used AI, the mod support and steam workshop. The list goes on.
Any gaming CEO would kill to have Steam and would promptly kill it within 5 years to appease share holders.
Don't even get me started on the Gabecube (the new steam console).
Steam single-handedly is holding PC gaming up and I never want anything to happen to it.
Other companies can eat shit and learn to actually respect their customers like Valve and Steam do—but they won't, because that means not squeezing every dime possible out of your userbase.
