People have such a hatred for steam that they focus only on that and not the wider picture.
Up to 30% US tax on games sold through steam from outside countries. Crazy. Those who make games in the us face 0% there and only income tax.
They used a publisher that that took ~40%
It's really sad that the games industry is drained by a 30% tax on gross revenue.
You could vibe code a Steam alternative in a week. Cloudflare egress is basically free.
The industry is in desperate need of a distribution platform that allows developers to keep their revenue.
Networks effects and the fanatic obsession with "muh Steam library" will make this very difficul.
But if devs could actually keep their earnings, we'd have a greater selection of better games and far more financial success stories.
They even put a good point that their marker they chose is china which resulted in a staggering 22% refund rate due to how strict players in that country are with games.
So. I love capitalism but this isnt the exact proof you want since its using percentage.
50% on $1000 is $500
7% (which is roughly where the us is at) of $50000 is $3,500
Now this does point out that the amount we spend on food in relation to the rest of what we spend, is less.

You can still get other loans, and scholarships.
Hopefully this makes these courses cheaper, but that may be asking too much.
Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/NmmAzhf

Seeing this comparison, its kinda annoying me that Kojima wore the PlayStation jacket but Hermen didn't that day

Funny enough. To me the king looks much better in s2 and makes me wonder if they redesigned him first and made everyone else to fit his design change.
No. Steam doesnt use this model in the way you think it does.
Steam is like a marketplace where each dev/publisher has their own stall. Each dev/pub can decide whether they give a license or not. They utilize steam's drm to enforce their license.
