This evening I visited the site of the collapsed building on 9th Street in Eastleigh. I was briefed on the rescue operations, thanked the rescuers and first responders for their tireless work, and consoled families whose loved ones are still missing. We stand with them, and we will not give up until everyone is accounted for. There is some encouraging news. This afternoon a Chinese search-and-rescue team, Blue Sky Rescue (USAR), joined the effort with specialised equipment. They have already detected two people alive in the basement of the building.

David Raya. His 2025/26 Premier League record of 19 clean sheets and just 26 goals conceded in 37 games, plus strong Champions League numbers, edges Unai Simón's higher concession rates at Athletic. Raya's consistency behind an elite defence and superior distribution suit a side chasing domestic titles and European glory.

Moyale: Facts, Not Fabrications The violence in Moyale has cost lives which is totally unnecessary and unwarranted. Peace starts with truth. The Oromo invaded Somalis in Moyale and then want to play victim. The Borana are Oromo. The Garre are Somali. Sharing a border does not mean sharing an identity. Calling this decades of provocative violence "cousin rivalry" erases the suffering of real families. A flag raised in a Somali neighborhood is a pretext, not a cause. As we say: "Weyl ayaa ku tallaabsatay ilmo raadinayay sabab uu ku ooyo." Territory cannot be settled by force. The Somali Region, its people and its agreed boundaries must be respected. Thank you @aliiroba #Moyale #Ethiopia #Peace #SomaliRegion
What an extraordinary display of intellectual gymnastics! One must almost admire the audacity of attempting to disguise aggression as innocence and territorial expansionism as historical entitlement. Unfortunately, no amount of creative storytelling can manufacture facts, rewrite history, or transform an aggressor into a victim. The allegations of paramilitary advances from Oromia into somali territory deserve serious scrutiny, not this embarrassingly selective presentation of events. The reported testimonies of victims and evidence circulating on social media must be independently investigated. Propaganda is not evidence, and repetition does not magically turn fiction into truth. There is a Somali proverb worth reminding the architects of such narratives: “Nimaan sinnaan kuu ogoleyn, adna sarreyntiisa ha ogolaan.” He who refuses to coexist with you as an equal must never expect you to accept his supremacy. Perhaps the authorities in Oromia should spend less time entertaining fantasies of territorial dominance and more time studying the history, dignity, resilience and determination of the Somali people. Greater Moyale is a shared town, historically home to communities from both regions. This is neither a temporary arrangement nor a geographical inconvenience that can be corrected through military adventurism. No deployment of paramilitary forces, however ambitious its sponsors, can erase that reality. The Somali people have never required anyone’s permission to defend their homes, dignity or legitimate territorial rights. Those who mistake their preference for peaceful coexistence as weakness are making a spectacular miscalculation. And here lies the greatest absurdity, imagining that temporary military advantage can somehow confer permanent territorial ownership in the twenty-first century. What an astonishingly primitive theory of governance! Not one inch of territory should be acquired through intimidation, coercion or aggression. Regional boundaries must be respected. Those allegedly orchestrating these provocations from comfortable offices should understand one elementary truth: initiating confrontation is considerably easier than controlling its consequences. The communities who will pay the price deserve better than reckless political ambitions dressed up as patriotism. The planners may believe their intentions are cleverly concealed. Yet the allegations, accounts of victims and emerging evidence demand answers. Let this be absolutely clear: Somali people’s determination to defend legitimate rights must never be underestimated. Equally, no community should be condemned to endless conflict because of the ambitions of political actors. Oromia’s leadership faces a straightforward choice: pursue peaceful coexistence, mutual recognition and respect for established boundaries, or continue down a dangerous path that risks devastating both communities. And to the author of this spectacularly misleading tweet: congratulations on an impressive attempt to insult the public’s intelligence. Unfortunately, history is not rewritten by enthusiastic propagandists, territorial rights are not established through social-media fiction, and the truth does not become false simply because it is inconvenient. Moyale belongs to its people, not to expansionist ambitions. Coexistence is not a concession. Equality is not negotiable. Aggression must stop.

As a former majority leader Emeritus , I have gone through the Election Amendement Bill (Senate Bill) 2024 and state the correct position minus the propaganda of those who have not taken time to read . The Elections (Amendment) Bill,2024 is a Senate Bill that was introduced and passed in the Senate and subsequently introduced in the National Assembly last year in February. The Bill was one of the Bills emanating from the NADCO process co-chaired by the Hon.Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon.Kimani Ichung'wah. When the Bill was still undergoing consideration in the National Assembly, Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua, Fred Matiang'i, Justin Muturi, Mithika Linturi and Eugene Wamalwa filed a Petition in the High Court challenging section 39 of the Elections Act which provides for among other things the livestreaming of election results. Sen.Okiya Omtatah also filed a similar Petition. The High Court in its judgment delivered on 22nd September,2026 considered the Petitions and upheld the constitutionality of section 39 of the Elections Act. It is noteworthy that the Court further held that "the National Assembly is to take note of the manner section 39 of the Act was construed in finalizing the Bill". Based on this, yesterday, the National Assembly in considering the Bill, deleted clause 22 of the Bill which had a proposed amendment to section 39. The effect of this amendment is to retain section 39 as it is in the Act which is that it obligates the livestreaming of election results. The National Assembly DID NOT pass any amendment to remove the livestreaming of elections results and the reports online are therefore FALSE and MISLEADING. It also noteworthy that the attempts at amending the section by the Member for Suba South, Hon.Caroli Omondo were also rejected by the National Assembly so as to uphold the court judgment on the validity of section 39. In short, the livestreaming of election results is still mandatory as required by section 39 of the Elections Act and the Act was NOT amended by the National Assembly to remove this requirement. Having been passed by the National Assembly, the Bill will now be transmitted back to the Senate for consideration.

Presided over a resource mobilisation drive organised by Somali Midnimo Community-Based Organisation (CBO), an umbrella body representing women's groups from 11 Somali clans in Isiolo County, to empower local women and promote unity, peace and development. Speaking at the event, I urged leaders to reject divisive politics, emphasising that development delivery, not ethnic mobilisation, should determine electoral success in 2027. I also highlighted H.E. President William Ruto's commitment to equitable development, citing the Lamu–Garissa–Isiolo road, the ongoing 750-kilometre Isiolo–Mandera highway and the removal of vetting requirements for residents of northern Kenya and border communities seeking identification and travel documents. In recognition of my leadership, the community honoured me with a she-camel, a cherished cultural symbol of honour and respect. Present were Governor Abdi Guyo (Isiolo County), MPs including Hon. Mohamed Abdikheir (Lafey), Hon. Prof. Guyo Jaldesa (Moyale), Hon. Abdi Ali (Ijara), Hon. Zachary Thuku (Kinangop), Hon. Amina Abdullahi (Woman Rep., Tana River), Hon. Mumina Bonaya (Woman Rep., Isiolo), Hon. Mohamed Chute (Senator, Marsabit), PS Ummi Bashir (Culture), the business community led by Chairman of Hass Petroleum, Mr. Abdinasir Ali Hassan.

I wonder what is running through the minds of these tourists when they decide to have ‘a cupa’ in the Serengeti! @AwDoll it is time to establish a highly needed tourism space in Habasweyn so at least they are safe?

Today we started the tarmacking of Meru Road, including the section that runs inside Gikomba Market, giving the residents of Majengo and the traders of Gikomba and their customers a smooth, mud-free passage at last. The work was delivered through the Kamukunji KeRRA Constituency Roads Fund. This is the seventh road my office has secured funding for in the last twelve months in Pumwani/Shauri Moyo Ward alone. It follows Digo, Lamu, Quarry, Muinami, Ahero and Lorian Roads — 6.1 kilometres in all, at a cost of some Ksh 203 million. Road by road, we are improving infrastructure and changing lives in Kamukunji.

Our attention has been drawn to public remarks by the Controller of Budget suggesting that certain public funds fall outside any framework of oversight and accountability. This characterisation is inaccurate and requires clarification. The mandate of the Office of the Controller of Budget is defined by Article 228 of the Constitution and the Controller of Budget Act, 2016. Under Article 228(4), the office authorises withdrawals from public funds under Articles 204, 206 and 207 — the Equalisation Fund, the Consolidated Fund and County Revenue Funds — and, under the Act, from any other public fund that an Act of Parliament expressly places under its approval. In every case, Article 228(5) requires only that she confirm the withdrawal is authorised by law. The funds referred to in the interview were established by their own legislation, each with defined mechanisms for management, withdrawal and audit. They remain fully subject to the oversight of the Auditor-General and Parliament. To suggest that money lawfully appropriated and administered under an Act of Parliament is beyond scrutiny is to misstate both the law and the facts. The Controller of Budget is an independent constitutional office, and Government respects that independence. Independence, however, is exercised through the constitutional and statutory instruments provided — reports to Parliament and lawful approval of withdrawals — not through public commentary that mischaracterises the legal framework. Where any office holder believes their mandate should be widened, the proper avenue is the legislative process. Government notes that amendments to the Public Finance Management Act to expand oversight of funds and levies outside existing budget channels are already before Parliament, and it welcomes that debate on its merits

He is trying to walk like Thomas Shelby. Cillian Murphy said he walked spread out) to appear more dominant. A lot of short kyuk men in Nairobi adopted it. It doesn’t not work because they forget that when people say Cillian Murphy is short they mean he is 5”7.
Kamukunji doesn’t need a sharp tongue; it needs sharp minds: leaders who epitomise decency and have a loud development record. Simon Mbugua calling Yussuf, who survived an assassination attempt while serving his electorate, a “Mugabe” only exposes his own shallowness.

Uhuru wants the immunity of a statesman while still throwing shade at rallies and funding whispers. He'd be well advised that choices have consequences. If you're in the ring, hard punches, clean or below the belt, come with the sport. If you want out, actually leave it instead of complaining about a good boxer's jabs.

Presided over a resource mobilization drive in Afwein, Garissa County, to support the construction of Jamia Mosque and Madrassatul Tawba. The event brought together local leaders, religious scholars and members of the community in a shared commitment to strengthening spiritual and educational infrastructure in the region. I underscored the vital role of religious institutions in nurturing moral values, promoting social cohesion and mentoring young people into responsible citizens. I also called for unity among the region's leaders and residents, emphasizing the importance of working together to advance development priorities and safeguard the community's interests. Further, I encouraged continued support for H.E President William Ruto's development agenda, challenging residents to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration to increase our numbers and make the region's voice count in the 2027 general elections. I was accompanied by Hon. Mohammed Hussein, Member of Parliament for Lagdera Constituency; Hon. Imulkheir Harun, Nominated Member of Parliament; Garissa gubernatorial aspirants Ambassador Mohammed Shidiye and Hon. Ahmed Abass; Dadab parliamentary aspirant Hon. Jon Kherirow; parliamentary aspirants for Lagdera Constituency; Members of the County Assembly led by Hon. Hassan Geley, the area MCA; and a host of other local leaders and community representatives.
