In Boston for #ASCOQLTY26 this week, presenting two studies using national inpatient data to examine palliative care utilization and malnutrition in cancer hospitalizations.
Sharing a few findings below. Looking forward to connecting with colleagues at the meeting!
@ASCO @MiamiCancerInst @BaptistHealthSF
Presenting our findings at #ASCOQLTY26 from a national analysis of 230,348 GI cancer hospitalizations.
Protein-energy malnutrition was associated with higher inpatient mortality (15.5% vs 3.7%; aOR 3.54), longer hospital stays, and greater costs.
📍 Oct 16 | 12:25–1:45 PM | Hall D, E2
Abstracts available to read online: asco.org/quality/search
@ASCO @Sarbaji85064063
Presenting our second study at #ASCOQLTY26, examining palliative care utilization across 8,915 GI cancer hospitalizations ending in inpatient death.
Only 25.9% had a documented palliative care consultation, which was associated with greater DNR documentation (64.1% vs 19.5%) and lower odds of mechanical ventilation.
📍 Oct 17 | 7:20–8:20 AM EDT
Level 2, Hall D | Poster A7

Excited to share our @eClinicalMed viewpoint on the evolving role of #ctDNA in GI cancers!

We discuss how ctDNA is evolving from a prognostic biomarker to a predictive tool through prospective ctDNA-guided trials, with the future integrating serial monitoring, multi-omics, imaging, clinical data, and AI to advance precision oncology. Grateful to all my co-authors for this collaboration.

Excited to share our new @eClinicalMed viewpoint on the evolving role of ctDNA in GI cancers.
ctDNA has emerged as a powerful prognostic marker—but its greatest potential lies in prospective ctDNA-guided trials to move the field from prognosis to prediction.

🎯 What predicts leadership attainment in oncology?
Congrats to Sarah Abraham on presenting this ASCO 2026 poster on outcomes among @ASCO Leadership Development Program graduates. The study highlights associations between leadership attainment, scholarly productivity, and geographic region.
As a current #ASCOLDP participant, I found these findings especially meaningful
Remarkable achievement for Sarah to present an ASCO poster as a medical student!
