You have to remember elections are all about feelings. People rarely make rational decisions. We've known this since elections were invented. Romans called it bread and circus In a rational world we wouldn't be arguing about the pros and cons of mass immigration, killing babies or letting semi-retarded welfare queens vote. No reason to suppose one election was going to be different. GOP bigwigs blaming the voters only makes things worse, not better.

Ed also says that spiffing money at subsidising windfarms that don't produce energy when we need it and have to be paid to not generate energy when we have too much of it doesn't cost us, either. He never was very good at maths. He is very good at selling services to lobbyists

It is not Watergate. 1974 was a House wave with a small Senate echo. 49 House seats, 4 Senate seats. The Senate loss, if we call it 8 seats with Alaska, is 1994 and 1986. The House, if it settles near 250, is 2018. Neither number alone is a record. Together they are. A Senate loss of 8 and a House loss of 35 or more on the same night has happened twice since the WWII, in 1946 and 1958. No one today voted in either of those elections. The president’s party has not been beaten like this in both chambers at once in 68 years.

Sky News are portraying Karl Bushby's 28 year “expedition” as some great success story. At 28, he abandoned his wife and 8 year old son to embark on what was supposed to be a five year adventure. His son reportedly nearly died in a horrific motorcycle accident. Bushby didn't even return to be by his bedside. For me, this is a story of a man who put his own ambitions before his family for 28 years. Whilst Sky News push this as a success story, I genuinely can't think of a worse way to live your life.
Karl Bushby has arrived home in Hull after walking 30,000 miles over the last 28 years. He set off from southern Chile in 1998, aged 28, promising to walk all the way home. Sky's @ShingiMararike caught up with Karl as he headed home to see his mum trib.al/KLEvD1M

UK brick deliveries are a useful proxy for new house building starts in the absence of monthly starts data. Deliveries in September 2026 were 6.8% higher than in August but 14.0% lower than a year ago according to the Department for Business, Innovation, Science & Trade. (1/n)

Tonight’s outcome isn’t about placing faith in Democrats or socialist principles; it’s about holding Republicans accountable for betraying their promises. All Republicans had to do was: 1. put Americans First 2. not start another war 3. prosecute sex traffickers

🚨🇵🇱Polish PM Donald Tusk has just unleashed police on the streets of Warsaw to crush protests against his coup. President Karol Nawrocki has strongly condemned Tusk's attempts to destroy the country and called for him to be held accountable. Donald Tusk and the EU have brought Poland to the brink of collapse.

So over 80% of responses to the government's immigration consultation came from foreign nationals! Honestly, it's hard not to laugh. It's like one of those far-fetched plotlines from 'Yes, Minister'. How can anyone give it credence?

The reason European supermarket freezers are getting hacked goes back to Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 which requires retailers to log temperatures. The rule was kept after Brexit. The industry automated EU red tape compliance in a really dumb way

The idea of Europe throwing up a cyber wall around itself and banning the use of non-European tech is growing on me. It's the only way to protect European citizens and businesses from European tech incompetence and "Russian/Iranian/insert enemy-du-jour" hackers based in Tel Aviv

#BREAKING Five consecutive explosions were heard on Iran's Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf, with their intensity suggesting possible impacts on the island itself, state news agency IRNA reported. IRNA said Monday that the explosions occurred in rapid succession and that some residents reported seeing two aircraft flying over the island. Local and provincial authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

The only thing that falls faster than a learjet with iced up wings is the collective jaw-drop moment when you find out who they let pilot the thing

Some perspective: young snowflakes in France are protesting about how unfair everything is while in America 20 year old women are working as professional pilots and learning not to fly learjets through icy storms the hard way

The Ukrainian and Russian emergency alert hacks are fake news. If any credible hacker wanted to do serious damage to the reputation of their enemies they'd fire off emergency warnings about disposable barbecues, not chemical weapons or nuclear attacks

OK, I think I changed my mind about letting the Mrs buy that Learjet.

Has a British King ever apologised for feudalism or offered to pay reparations out of the Crown estates and landed estates of the nobility? If not, why not?
186
Tony Blair already did that back in 2007 To the best of my knowledge, nobody has formally apologised for Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya (where slave markets have returned), Syria, various African civil wars or the many deadly colour revolutions (includes Ukraine)

Churchill authorised & sent over 900,000 tons of grain to India between mid 1943 to end of 1944 to alleviate the famine, despite the concurrent shipping crisis & Japanese naval threat. You’re an associate professor at Cambridge. The Churchill Archives are literally in Cambridge. Do better. Utterly embarrassing & shameful.
