PREVENT IS OVERWHELMED
A record 6,085 children were referred to Prevent last year, up from 2,129 in 2020, according to police chiefs' figures obtained by the Conservatives.
The counter-extremism scheme is being turned into a catch-all for every troubled teenager with a fascination for violence. Meanwhile Islamist extremism, still the biggest share of the terror threat facing this country, risks getting lost in the noise.
The Shawcross review warned back in 2023 that Prevent had taken its eye off Islamism. Three years on, ministers still have not got a grip.
Our children deserve a system that names the real threat and deals with it.
SOMALIA SAYS 75 AL-SHABAAB FIGHTERS KILLED
Kenyan broadcaster K24 reported that Somalia's military says nearly 75 al-Shabaab militants were killed and 56 wounded in a major offensive in the southwestern Bay region. Somalia's Ministry of Defence announced the operation against the al-Qaeda-linked Islamist group, though the casualty figures have not been independently verified.

COUNCIL DROPS SANCTUARY LABEL
Wandsworth Council has voted to stop being a borough of sanctuary. Around 160 councils, plus the whole of Wales, still carry it.
Border control belongs to Parliament, not activist campaigns. Every council should follow Wandsworth.

ASYLUM HOTEL CRIME FIGURES
New analysis of police data by GB News found 673 crime and antisocial behaviour reports at the map points right by three Bournemouth hotels used to house asylum seekers, between September 2023 and August 2026.
Violence and sexual offences were the largest category, with 259 reports.
Across the road from one hotel, reports of violent and sexual offences ran at almost three times the local average.
Yet when challenged over its other sites, the Home Office insists there is no evidence of rising crime.
Local people deserve the truth, not denials. Close the hotels.

FREE MOVEMENT BACK ON THE TABLE
Andy Burnham now wants an "evidence-based" debate on bringing back elements of EU free movement, with officials set to discuss it ahead of the UK-EU summit on 20 November.
This is the same man who warned in 2019 that free movement let big firms undercut wages in working-class towns.
Britain voted to take back control of its borders. Downing Street says there are no proposals yet. Then rule it out now, in writing.
NIGERIA ARREST OVER CALL TO KILL CHRISTIANS
Zamfara police have arrested a 22-year-old JIBWIS member seen in a viral video chanting for rifles to kill Christians in Enugu and Jos, AIT reported. Leadership said the group disowned him and handed him to police.

Back boxing after feeling ill for weeks. Shoulder and hip injury too. Gonna release the demographics video in a few days. It’s horrible. But we have to face the facts, no matter how ugly they are. It’s so bleak it’s made me think hard how about strategy going forward…..OCS

In 2 weeks time, I will be walking with my head held high into Bolton Magistrates Court. They are trying to strip me of my driving licence. This is the establishment trying to control me and shut me down. They won’t stop me. The traitors can try and stop me, but they will fail! OCS

SOFTER ON FOREIGN CRIMINALS
There are still 21,000 serious foreign criminals living in Britain.
Right now, a foreign criminal jailed for four years or more cannot use family or long-residence claims to dodge deportation. In the Commons, the Government was told it voted down amendments to keep that rule and extend it to terrorists, leaving its new Immigration and Asylum Bill softer than the current law.
The Minister's answer? A lecture about Churchill and a promise to "reform" the ECHR at some point.
The public want foreign offenders removed, not more legal loopholes. Deport them.
JORDAN STRIKES SYRIA AFTER CHURCH ATTACK
Euronews reported that Jordan says its airstrikes in southern Syria killed around 20 Islamic State militants, in retaliation for last week's deadly shooting at a church in Jordan. Channel 4 News reported that Syrian authorities say at least seven people, including a family of five, were killed, and Jordan has acknowledged civilian casualties.

BANNED TERRORIST GOT IN BY LORRY
Zana Abdul Rahman Rahim was jailed in Italy for his role in an Isis-linked terror cell that plotted to kidnap a British ambassador. He was under a UK-wide exclusion order, yet he still got into Britain in the back of a lorry via Dover in June.
He was only identified months later, when West Yorkshire Police stopped his car over a broken light. He is due to be sentenced on Friday.
If a banned terrorist can get in this easily, our borders are not secure. Ministers must deport him without delay and explain how he got through.
AFGHAN SEX OFFENCE CONVICTIONS SEVEN TIMES BRITISH RATE
The Telegraph reported that an Economist analysis of Ministry of Justice data found Afghan nationals in England and Wales were convicted of sex offences at seven times the British rate in 2020-22, after adjusting for age and sex. Speaking on GB News, human rights lawyer David Haigh said the findings showed a specific problem and that the key question was why the numbers were higher.

Two men have been charged under the National Security Act over the RAF Fairford incident, one accused of assisting Iran's intelligence service. Suspected hostile activity at a base on British soil. Ministers must stop treating Tehran's threats as a nuisance.
