Not that anyone asked for it, but my take on the Mamdani Palestine protests yesterday is that it’s perfectly natural and reasonable for groups like Within Our Lifetime to protest Mamdani (their focus is on Palestine, their job is to force political actors to care about Palestine) but because a DSA socialist has never held a position of this high prominence before, a lot of people on the left are squeamish about the concept of not playing for the sake of the team. Mamdani himself very clearly has no idea what to do when he’s challenged by his leftward flank, who he probably imagines as his base. This will only be a bigger issue going forward.
And yes, many of the slogans used at the protest scream of overzealousness, but that’s how these things tend to go, particularly when you’re mostly made up of leftist college students

Will these include paid placements @sainsburys ?
Or is the plan to 'help tackle youth unemployment' by getting thousands of people to work for free, replacing paid opportunities ?
Anyone else remember the Workfare struggles of the mid 2010s?

The US is targeting the anarchist collective that hosts the popular Noblogs wordpress platform as terrorists. This is truly batshit (as are their various obvious lies about Rose City Antifa etc).
This is a HUGE attack on basic free speech.

Unskilled labor is a technical term meaning work that doesn’t require a credential one can leverage as a form of private property to extract a higher wage. I thought we’ve been through this

This is propaganda too. It's a very distinctive form of Chinese propaganda & chauvinism that there's probably a term for it, it typically appears in the form of bringing superior Chinese culture & tech to struggling natives. It's very common in the 穿越 (transmigration) genre
China has made the film Hollywood never would: Once Upon a Time in the Middle East.
A Chinese chef is dragged into the US invasion of Iraq and uses his tiny Chinese restaurant to protect civilians. It shows the suffering of ordinary local people in war.
Hollywood only made "I'm in your country, sorry but I have no choice but to kill you" from the US POV.

It's really too bad because we could have built a world where we work a little bit but mostly just hang out and have a good time but instead we got this shithole

Watching ppl QRT this endorsing forced labor, belittle art, require "productivity" to participate in society, etc repeatedly is making me a bit bitter
