anime, books. Female characters are the best thing that ever happened to fiction and I will defend them with my life. ||

One interesting thing about this is that I’ve yet to see anyone correctly identify, just for the sake of argument, a book written for ten and eleven year old girls at all, much less one that is commonly assigned in school.

You people ship two characters who have canonically been called the reincarnation of two brothers a million times. Lets stop this cannon vs non cannon mess, everyone gets to say ts but you guys

Wait until you hear there's people who don't even watch/read/like the source material they're writing from. Fandom for them is just using two well known characters they don't even care about as a way to get popular 🥲
Slurker (@slurkerr) profile pictureSlurker@slurkerrNov 6
AO3 is not social media and we gotta stop treating fandom like a popularity contest. Kudos are nice, but they aren't gonna keep you warm at night. Hits are nice, but they don't pay my bills. Some of y'all need to relax and quit focusing so much on "stats." It's not a competition.

It's interesting how this argument tends to be made: 1. When women were in the minority: "why do you even care if the protagonist looks like you, men don't care" 2. When men are in the minority: "boys are being DiSCouRaGed!", "society hates men!"

Young boys are being discouraged from getting into reading—and it’s because more books are missing one key element, @sophiah_n reports: theatlantic.com/culture/2026…

Girls read books with boy protagonists all the time. If men and boys can't read books with a girl protagonist, could it be because they think girls are lesser than boys? And therefore the problem isn't the girls in the books, it's their own fucked up thought process.

It's kind of very eye opening that when people say otome games should be inclusive to gay people it's always "make the protagonist a man" and never add female love interests. Like I agree I want gay relationships in otome actually, just without removing the female protagonist.
