I've gotten some nice testimonials over the years, but this one is especially nice. Beth has such a sharp legal mind; it was interesting to work with her.
“As an associate, you’ll hit the ground running from day one with exciting and meaningful work.”
Day one:
Was asked by a reporter at Bloomberg why we’ve seen such a lopsided drop in bar exam scores this year, and I think after having been asked this quite a bit over the years, I have a sort of canned answer to the question: “there are just too many variables to pin that down to one factor.”
Cop out answer? Perhaps. True? I think so. People can speculate, and I have some speculations. But speculations aren’t facts.

I had a complicated relationship with those games, ha. Was always my favorite section to teach. Like most puzzles, they were just fun to do and fun to teach.
Though I’ve also long thought the most relevant section of the test for prospective law students is LR. That’s just a perfect section for testing those planning to attend law school.
So, from a pure greed perspective, since they made my job more enjoyable, I didn’t like that change. But I don’t think removing them detracted much from the exam.
I don’t hate it. It needs to be contrasted with something salty: bacon, pepperoni, ham, etc. Without that contrast, it doesn’t work in my mind. Pineapple, cheese and tomato sauce is kind of dissonant.
It’s not a topping I’d add myself but I’ll eat it if it’s made by someone else.
Another interesting change is that there will now be a 10-minute break between each section. The LSAT will now be a three-section exam, so it’ll include two 10-minute breaks.
This has been a common accommodation given to eligible test takers and now that accommodation will no longer be needed since everyone will receive it.
Some rather big changes are coming to the LSAT later next year, but before getting too excited, those changes do not include bringing logic games back to life.
Rather, each scored section will become significantly longer since the experimental questions will be embedded within the scored sections rather than appearing as its own section. This will make it more difficult to know which questions are or are not experimental.
It’ll also turn each section into quite an endurance test. Scoring will remain the same: 180 is still the highest.

Interesting thing about @jaystratton’s new book is that one chapter might be about high-level government meetings to disclose information necessary to move forward legislation on this topic, and then the very next will be about werewolves in his backyard and orbs causing unfortunate serious medical problems with his dog.
Definitely not a boring book! Recommended if you’re into this topic.
I get where these AirBnb owners are coming from, not because their gripes are reasonable, but because they’ve grown used to being spoiled in a sense. There are burdens to running this business, monetary and otherwise, that, till now, they’ve been able to avoid. And now they’re forced to confront them.
It’s often more difficult to have something taken away than it is to have never had it.
