The only reason ethics restrictions prevent people from researching cognitive traits is because we already know the answers.
Everyone who claims to be convinced there were no group ("race") differences in intelligence would DEMAND research be conducted to prove their point.

Elites really are better than you. It’s not just connections: they are literally biologically better people , like high IQ or the sub 5 minute mile. Or Mark Zuckerberg and becoming near-pro at MMA almost instantly. Just biologically better people.
Yes, several. The biggest was 1997: police stopped him with a transgender sex worker in his car at a known prostitution area. He said he was just giving a ride; no charges filed, but massive tabloid coverage followed.
He also faced backlash for homophobic material in 1980s stand-up like Delirious, a 1989 sexual harassment lawsuit from an actress on Harlem Nights (he denied it), and a paternity dispute with Mel B that required a DNA test.

Interesting bio from a 17 year old Dario
- multiple time USAMO qualifier, 2nd at BAMO, Physics olympiad camper, Sumac
- Calc BC as a freshman, Real Analysis, Abstract algebra in high school (back in late 90s/early 2000s, where acceleration was much rarer)
- sub 5 mile time!

I believe we are going to see more and more Protestant churches affirm polygamy. It's actually not a huge step once you adopt the sort of hyper-literal Biblicism that's already the de facto approac in that world. It won't be the mainstream view, but could get traction.

Chomsky was wrong.
Researchers found your brain doesn’t store language the way every textbook since 1957 claims.
For decades, the undisputed rule of linguistics, led by Noam Chomsky, was that human language is hierarchical.
We were told our brains process language using complex "grammar trees." That we secretly build deep, abstract, mathematical rules in our heads before we speak.
This new paper proves that is completely wrong.
Researchers at Cornell University analyzed how people actually process and produce language in real time.
They found sequences. Linear chunks.
When we speak, we aren't calculating deep syntactic rules. We are just predicting the next most logical sequence of words based on the context of the words right before it.
We string linear chunks together.
If this sounds familiar, it should.
This is exactly how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work.
For years, critics have dismissed AI as "just a next-token predictor." They said it isn't truly intelligent because it doesn't understand deep grammatical hierarchies like humans do.
But this paper suggests humans don't use those hierarchies either.
We are just predicting the next chunk.
Language isn't a rigid tree of mathematical rules. It's a linear stream of contextual predictions.
We thought we were building AI to mimic the complexity of the human brain.
It turns out, the human brain was just running a simpler algorithm all along.

Teaching Intro to Econ is fun because it’s the easiest class your science students will ever take and the hardest one ever for some of the humanities students.

In my book Kakistocracy, I note that Brazil locking up Bolsonaro after he attempted a coup put its democracy on a healthier course. Compare to America, where the prosecution took too long. Brazil dodged a bullet tonight.

When I was in elementary school, my mom started going blind. Retinitis pigmentosa. No family history. No treatments. No cure.
I got lucky. She didn’t. It led me to build @OrchidInc so my baby —and everyone else's—gets to win the genetic lottery—avoid blindness— and hundreds of severe genetic diseases.
Today, the New York Times covered the tech we’ve spent years building:
Whole genome embryo screening for *hundreds* of diseases.
Not in theory. Not in mice. In humans. In IVF centers. Right now.
