Came across some news that @BaseVolApp’s was outperforming $BTC, so I decided to dig into how it works.
The setup is pretty simple:
→ you’re not really betting on direction.
→ you’re betting on movement.
The vault buys daily BTC volatility, so it matters less whether $BTC goes up or down.
What matters more is whether the move is big enough.
Since $BTC usually moves around ~2-4% a day, I can see why this kind of setup has been doing well.
I parked some free capital in the High Vol Vault and I’ll check back in a few days to see what happens.

.@BaseVolApp options vaults are secured through segregated functions per contract.
The user facing GenesisVault only handles user deposits and redeems & utilization into a preset strategy.
Strategy then rebalances funds to BaseVol and Morpho on a daily basis under (again) a fixed allocation %.
Finally, each respective Manager contract can only run specific functions tailored for vault operations - there is no room for faulty quotes or swaps.
Verified through an audit by @getfailsafe, this format ensures structural safety for depositors.

You may be asking yourself, “How could this happen?”
And the answer is, because every single modern “vault” product is just a wrapped multisig.
And I don’t mean that as in, “the multisig can rug you”, or the product requires trust.
I mean literally every action they take is just arbitrary execution sent through some 2/3 or 2/4 msig with unknown signers.
They operate through unbounded “execute” functions that allow the owner at any time do any possible execution they want.
It’s a recipe for disaster even fully discounting ill intent. This is certainly not the first error and won’t be the last.
If the vault doesn’t say Yearn or Morpho it’s almost certainly a Safe wrapper not a “vault”
Supporters say this model is just more akin to traditional finance models of asset management. They are more like o chain funds. But the irony is not even the most risk on, degenerate style hedge funds in tradfi would allow 1 or 2 private keys to just arbitrarily yeet user funds around at will like we do in “DeFi”
And so now the majority of crypto in its current form both requires MORE trust in the operators during normal times and has worse protections for users in bad times.
It really is becoming Banking but worse.

There is one AI coin in the Virtual ecosystem that almost no one talks about.
That is strange, because it is one of the strongest DeFAI products, and it is backed by Virtual Protocol itself with $3m funding.
I am talking about $ATM | @BaseVolApp.

You can earn based on BTC price movements, which makes it a solid hedge platform.
They are also backed by Virtual Ventures, so I expect some expansion into the Virtuals ACP cluster soon.
$ATM is looking good at 580k marketcap, and it feels like it could be the next runner coming out of the Virtuals ecosystem.
What they are building is on-chain options and structured products on Base.
Options are already one of the biggest markets in traditional finance, and over time, they will become just as important in crypto. The team is trying to bring something proven into an on-chain form that normal users can actually use.
The founders come from real TradFi backgrounds like Morgan Stanley, UBS, and Bank of America, which matters because they are not guessing how these products should work. They are rebuilding systems they already understand, but this time fully on-chain and accessible to retail instead of only institutions.
The backing reflects that seriousness. BaseVol raised a total of $3M, with the seed round led by Neoclassic Capital and participation from Virtuals Ventures, Baboon VC, WTIC, and other strategic partners. The pre-seed was led by Altos Ventures, a fund known for backing many of Korea’s unicorns.
Also, they were incubated by Base through Base Batches, won second prize globally, and received direct support from both Coinbase and Base on partnerships, fundraising, and distribution.
On the product side, this is already live and evolving. Their flagship product focuses on ultra-short-term options with a simple user experience, and they have expanded into on-chain vaults that package professional-style strategies into something regular users can understand and access.
Their Genesis Vaults, built together with Virtuals Protocol and managed by agents fully on-chain, have already delivered around 17 percent relative performance versus BTC. More vault strategies with different risk profiles are coming soon, and everything is being prepared for Baseapp.
When I put it all together, this looks like a clean mix of real financial products, strong VC backing, Base and Coinbase support, and direct exposure to the agentic economy through Virtuals. If AgentFi and structured yield become narratives people actually care about, $ATM feels well positioned to be noticed.
