People who have suffered under authoritarian regimes tend to value crypto and decentralization more than anyone.
The average person born and raised in Europe or North America with stable governments and functioning financial systems always questions why we even need this technology in the first place.
I got into crypto in 2021 after the Taliban regime took power and froze all the banks in Afghanistan, including my dad's life savings. To this day, thousands of people have their assets seized or made inaccessible.
My dad and my entire family now rely on stablecoins for savings. I can't even open a bank account in most countries due to my nationality - my passport is essentially a financial barrier.
Across the world, there are millions of people who wish they had alternatives and learned too late that centralized systems can lock you out overnight.
For many of you, crypto is another option. For us, it's the only one.
I strongly believe OP fumbled a massive opportunity with this bet.
They could've become the next Base: a consumer-focused ecosystem on top of Ethereum while they still had the momentum.
Instead, they went all-in on the stack thesis, which so far hasn't delivered the results they were hoping for.
An even bigger mistake was prioritizing the stack at the expense of their own network. A hybrid approach like Arbitrum's, where they continued investing in their own ecosystem while also supporting the stack, would've made a lot more sense.
Now they've put themselves in a position where this bet needs to work or they die a slow death.
Just like every company has its own server now, soon every company will have its own blockchain.
@jinglejamOP explains:
Always seek advice from people who've actually been in the trenches and lived through multiple cycles.
They'll help you round-trip your entire portfolio without making a penny, and somehow you'll still feel good about your investments.
There's this new annoying botting tactic on X where people use AI bots to leave generic comments under relevant accounts' posts to promote their own account and get more visibility and followers.
@nikitabier I know you're not responsible anymore, but please get these nuked 😭
Bringing back the old passport meme.
That said, if you can make it, don’t miss Devcon this year. It’s going to be a banger.
This is a very smart move before the IPO. It makes their brand stack hard to compete with for other AI labs, and they can market themselves as "the good ai company"
-> The ai company that spun out of OpenAI over safety
-> The ai company that pushed back on the pentagon over mass surveillance and autonomous weapons and lost 200M in the process
-> Now a public benefit fund aimed at AI job losses
On top of that, most people don't know but Sam pitched 5% of openai to the government in July, when they were restricted from fully launching GPT -5.6.
Trump had also said he regretted taking only 10% of Intel and not getting more.
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit.
It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion.
In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding.
In the post below, we share more details about our new fund.

I urge everyone who can to make it to @EFDevcon this year.
EthDenver was too early after devcon and Token2049 in Dubai was cancelled and we haven't had a proper event this year yet so devcon will definitely be packed.
India is also home to one of the world's largest developer ecosystems, with great potential for ethereum.
The devcon team has also been working very hard to make this an amazing experience.
It's sad to see how people assume that if you post about something, you're either bag shilling or have some incentive to do so.
Whatever happened to just talking about things you're excited about or find interesting?
If you're building a cool product in crypto, share it here. If I find it useful, I'll post about it.
I think we are going to enter a golden age in game development with ai coding.
For decades, the biggest constraint on game development has been the cost of building and maintaining a game.
There are so many games people have dreamed of making but never pursued because the economics simply didn't make sense.
When the cost of building software drops, the number of ideas worth pursuing expands dramatically.
Of course, making a game is about much more than writing code. Game design, art direction, storytelling, and knowing what makes something fun still matter enormously.
AI won't automatically make everyone a great game developer.
But it will def give more people the ability to turn their ideas into actual products without needing a massive budget or a team of dozens.
And when you combine that with the creativity of people who've spent years dreaming about games they couldn't build, I think we're going to see some incredible things the same way we saw with vibe coding.
Can't wait to build my own COD.
Tell you what, the @ethena team knows a thing or two about proper merch
Whichever Neobank builds this feature will lock me as a customer for the rest of my life.
Would happily pay 20$ a month in subscription for the expense tracker.
How do you guys track your expenses, and how do you think about spending money?
I'm personally struggling with this a lot. I've tried all sorts of expense trackers, but I still haven't found a good one that can properly aggregate all my spending in one place.
Secondly, I'm pretty bad at controlling my spending, which is something I definitely need to work on.
Would love to hear how you guys approach this.

For a guy who preaches decentralization and censorship-resistant technology, this is pretty ironic.
The whole point of building decentralized social networks is to prevent any single entity from having unilateral control over who gets to participate, what gets said, and who gets silenced.
If your commitment to free speech only extends to the people you agree with, then it was never really about censorship resistance in the first place.
Banned from @balajis’s new @farcaster_xyz for making anti Flock posts. You can’t make this up.
If you’re still using it just know who you’re dealing with and what their principles are.
Setup is finally coming together.
Tried the M6 Mini and @Apple cooked on this one.
Sometimes companies try way too hard to innovate.
Literally ALL your customers want is better security, a good user experience, and fewer third-party, fourth-party, fifth-party leaks.
But no, you have to launch gimmicky shit every now and then while the fundamentals still need work.
Don't get me wrong, it's good to see a company trying new things, but sometimes it feels like they're losing sight of what their customers actually want.
Your wealth is digital. The device you manage it with should be built for that.
Meet Ledger Atom™: the security of industry leading hardware, the convenience of your everyday apps, plus control over your AI tools, and a rapidly expanding platform of apps, all in one quantum ready device.
Agents propose. You approve. Your Ledger signer enforces.
Is the Studio Display worth $2,000?
Due to import taxes in Indonesia, I might have to pay a couple hundred extra, bringing the total to around $2,500 for the nano-texture version with the height-adjustable stand.
There are other good options, but I hate using headphones or having a separate webcam, microphone, and speakers cluttering my desk which the Studio Display solves but I'm hesitant about the pricing.
pls drop some good recommendations and help a brother out.
Seeing all this shitshow with Ledger and Trezor, I decided to get a @Tangem wallet.
Easily the best UX I’ve experienced on a hardware wallet, especially on a phone.
My biggest concern is the physical security aspect. Carrying the cards around means there’s always a risk of losing them or getting mugged, especially if someone gets both your phone and card.
Overall, definitely a unique experience.
