Our mTOR Pathway Diseases RDR UK node is delighted to be working with patient organisation partners on #RareDiseaseDay2024 @UKTSA @GoPI3Ks @ptenuki @LAMAction @myrovlytis @ChildGrowthUK @EpilepsyInst supported by @The_MRC @NIHRresearch
#RareDiseaseDay2024 is the perfect day to be giving my #mTOR undergrad lectures and how rare diseases affect 1 in 17 in the population and 75% of rare diseases affect children @KingsIoPPN
Exciting times ahead! Thrilled to unveil mTOR Pathway Diseases Node project at our launch event today. 🚀 #projectlaunch #mTORing
Getting to know each other
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our NIHR/MRC mTOR Pathway Diseases node kick-off event tomorrow with @palneurolab at the Strand campus @KingsCollegeLon. @EpilepsyInst @UKTSA @The_MRC @NIHRresearch
Our @in2scienceUK students enjoying learning about the power of Drosophila for neuroscience research today! @KingsIoPPN
Remarkably, NDI1 expression also rescues the seizure and lifespan phenotypes as well as the mito-ER contact defect caused by CI deficiency in neurons!
and together with Nav Chandel's lab and @RPC_3312 we showed the metabolic defects caused by CI deficiency are rescued by expression of the yeast NADH dehydrogenase NDI1.

We used a new mitochondria-ER reporter, developed by @alessio_vagnoni, to visualise reduced mito-ER contacts in complex I deficient neurons.
