@Mark_Butler_MP we want our classrooms, childcare centres, libraries and public indoor spaces to have indoor air quality to Parliamentary Standards! You know the IAQ you've had since 2021!

🌬️ How clean is the air inside our schools, workplaces, hospitals and public buildings? Our #UpperHouse committee has tabled its report into clean indoor air, making 38 recommendations aimed at improving how indoor air quality is regulated and managed across NSW

Beijing’s 2013 “airpocalypse”: left is a new mask, right is the same mask after 2 weeks on an indoor dehumidifier filter. That grey is dust people breathed at home.
How I accidentally started a global air purifier company (and why I didn’t tell my PhD advisor!). quora.com/How-do-people-live… @Quora

How does someone that spoke with such certainty, whilst being so wrong, get promoted at WHO to take Mike Ryan’s role as Director Epidemic and Pandemic Management/WHO Health Emergencies Programme? Millions died thinking they were following sound advice in order to minimise their risk. It takes a profound lack of insight into the role she played in WHO’s farcical response to COVID-19, and also a pathological degree of narcissistic self belief to have the gall to never acknowledge the harm caused, to never offer an apology, and yet continue to try and lead the world’s response to the threat of coronaviruses.

Here’s a fun trip down RSV memory lane. It’s a shame we blamed immunity debt instead of Covid.

Ignoring pandemics & mass communicable disease doesn’t work. Last year in DFW, & the nation: “This year’s RSV hospitalization rate for older adults is 10 times higher than usual at this point in the season, per the CDC.” star-telegram.com/news/artic…

University of Hong Kong researchers analyzed 40 airplane outbreaks of COVID-19 and flu. Infection risk was highest near infected passengers. Models found N95 masks nearly eliminated transmission, while doubling ventilation alone was insufficient. pubs.acs.org/esthag/article/…

Daily N95 wear has been a life-changer for me. Not being sick for 6 years was like getting 14-21 days back per year from a single acute illness. Let’s say 84-126 extra healthy days. It’s incredible when you think about it. Masks on planes =no brainer. Daily public masking? Same.

My town: Family of 5 enters the grocery. Each one grabs a wipe meant to clean the grocery cart handle. Each one uses the disinfectant to clean their hands, thus protecting them from their own germs. The group then proceeds maskless into the store to inhale everyone else's germs.

“Do you think the Covid virus was made in a lab?” I don’t care. Seriously. I do not care. It would change absolutely nothing for me either way, so I don’t see the point of expending any mental energy worrying about it. No matter where it came from, it’s here, and must be fought.

This approach is how I have over 12 air changes per hour worth of air filtration in my home, despite the air purifiers being inaudible. I simply have a lot of purifiers running at the same time, all at low speeds!
I still receive many requests asking for the noise at the air purifier’s highest setting to be lower. Although I’ve said this several times, I need to repeat it so that more people can see it: 1. If you want the maximum-speed CADR without the maximum-speed noise, it’s simple: use multiple units. For example, running one unit at 100% gives 379 CFM at 53 dB. Running two 5Pros at 50% gives 388 CFM at 45 dB. Running three 5Pros at 35% gives 387 CFM at 39 dB. 2. It may sound counterintuitive, but room air purifiers should be loud at maximum speed. This is because some people, at certain times, need the high CADR that comes with that high noise level. A good air purifier should offer a wide range of fan speeds so consumers can choose the speed that suits them. Even if the fan itself is very quiet, we still have to push its maximum speed to the point where it is noticeably loud, so that its operating range is wide enough to suit different people and scenarios. air-fanta.com/blogs/all/is-t…

Air purifiers were added to primary school classrooms. Here's what changed: • 32% less PM2.5 in the air • 12.5% fewer missed school days • €11 for each school day saved

I’m at the Safer Air Conference at Parliament House. Indoor air safety is the biggest budget saving available, easiest anti-inflation / productivity boosting investment we have available. Case in point: my mum recently spent 11 days in a hugely expensive publicly funded single-bed specialist hospital, constantly on oxygen. The reason? Bad ventilation at a leading Sydney hospital. I then spent a week off work sick, because I picked up the same infection due to bad air safety at a different leading Sydney hospital. Some of the best parliamentarians are here: Assistant health minister Rebecca White, Michelle Ananda-Rajah, @Mon4Kooyong , & Dr Amanda Cohn (MLC in the NSW parliament). (All women 🤔) Helen Haines no doubt would’ve been here, as she was in previous years.

An unseen tsunami. In German insurance claims data, people with a coded post-COVID diagnosis had on average 26.5 more sick-leave days in the first year (46 vs 20) and 6.9 more outpatient doctor visits than comparable people after COVID without that diagnosis🧵
