Attracting talented people from India has been a huge American advantage. Turning them into targets of racial resentment is a sure way to squander it. A serious agenda for American competitiveness should recognize that. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

Had forgotten about Hugh Trevor-Roper's Ten Commandments for English style. From the 2nd Commandment flows all.

Fun fact; there's a pretty serious argument this hat, the pakol, has origins in the Macedonian Kausia, worn by the soldiers of Alexander and the Kings of Bactria. It's extremely similar.

On September 11th, 1893 the Chicago Parliament of World Religions was addressed by Swami Vivekananda. His theme: Hinduism and American Christianity’s shared commitment to religious “toleration.” The 6000+ Americans in attendance gave him a standing ovation.
Replying to @RubiconCrosser1
Tell any American born before WWII that there would be a Hindu temple near Chicago in anno domini 2026. What would said American think? How would he want his posterity to react?

Part I: By what means Turhan Mildon acquired the style and title of Barry Lyndon.
There are picaresque novels everywhere for those with eyes to see.

Good analysis of the challenges Pakistan faces if it were to get involved in Yemen. One that is not mentioned is that Pakistan is also in a quasi war with the Taliban Afghanistan. Would Iran exploit that vulnerability? If Pakistan open a front with Houthis, would Iran throw its support behind the Taliban? Comments by an Iranian parliamentarian in Kabul last week caused quite a bit of worry in Islamabad.

In my debut with DARC, I argue America should view gamers as a strategic well of untapped know-how and purposefully tailor high-tech weapons for the way gamers learn.
We're thrilled to kick off our series on video games and warfare today with this piece from @VestutiMarco arguing that @DeptofWar should adopt a new paradigm of "playable weapons": leaning into gaming interfaces as a way of accelerating soldier effectiveness with new systems.

This is turning into like a Márquez novel in which the entire history of the 20th century is reproduced in a single South American town
He was a left-wing candidate that defeated a right-wing named... Lenin Vladimir.

The Four Corners in Kingston, NY is the only intersection in the United States in which all four structures date before the American Revolution. The oldest, the Jansen House, was built between 1663 and 1667 when the region was part of the New Netherlands colony.

Not sure why anyone would be surprised that Tucker Carlson is a Hitlerite. Remember 2 years ago when he had that neo-nazi Darryl Cooper on his podcast, spouting drivel that Churchill was the villain of WW2. My piece debunking that cretin, at the time: nationalinterest.org/feature…

Avg. Twitter account: Digger is a new form of Cinema. Perhaps the only type of cinema now possible. Not so much a film about contemporary life, but a glimpse of the future’s perception of the present. Professional movie critics: Tom Cruise was fat and I didn’t get it.
