The opposite of "courageous" isn't "cowardice". It's "compliance". Courage is saying NO, even when it goes against your instinct for self-preservation.

I don't know any woman or man on the right who says that raping a woman or a man is great. And I don't know anyone on the right who says abusing children is a good idea. No one laughs at that. However, what people on the right also notice is sudden and vague accusations right before an election. When someone is running for an election or about to become a Supreme Court justice, they are suddenly accused of assaulting someone many decades earlier, despite having been in public life all these years and holding high positions. This raises simple questions for many people on the right: How true are these accusations? Why are they surfacing only now before the election? Why are they so vague? Why are they coming decades later when possible evidence has long been destroyed? Why are they taking place in a liberal state where the jury is believed to be biased and may not be able to acquit and go home safely? When they cannot find convincing answers and the only response is that you should believe the accuser and not the person being accused, even though both parties are capable of lying and destroying lives, people then find the situation laughable. People on the left claim that they are laughing at the rape victim in front of a television audience and criticize them for being cruel, but that's nonsense. They are laughing at what they perceive as election interference, with stories that emerge during elections and are not heard of again until another election approaches. As I mentioned, most people I know on the right are religious individuals who are against rape or assault and are also committed to the protection of women, children, and men. They are alarmed when they hear some people on the left suggesting that children as young as 5 can make life-changing decisions, even though they cannot drive or drink until a certain age. It is this false moral superiority that people find amusing.

A lot of people are getting upset having their conduct during covid compared to Germans supporting the rise of Nazism. Let's recapitulate. A fifth of the population was legally classified as unclean. They were barred from most public spaces, including theatres, restaurants, movies, pubs, clubs, swimming pools, sporting events, concerts, conventions, etc. To access public facilities, people had to carry a digital mark with them so authorities could confirm they weren't unclean. The unclean were fired and barred from most jobs: education, healthcare, courts - all public sector work, most major union jobs and a wide smattering of major private employers. When they were fired, the unclean were denied employment insurance, the reasoning being that they had been fired for cause on account of being unclean. The unclean were banned from travel on trains, planes, and chartered boats. They had no legal means of leaving the country. Even if they wanted to, they could not escape the country that obviously hated them so. It became illegal to socialize with the unclean. They weren't allowed to attend weddings or funerals, or visit sick relatives or friends in hospital. Special laws were made for the unclean subjecting them to house arrest if they were around a person who had recently had a positive PCR test. The unclean had to continue to cover their faces in public when universal masking was dropped. It became socially acceptable to wish death upon the unclean in social media and in major news organizations. Public health figures and other politicians gave press conferences to shame and insult the unclean. The public developed shared pejorative names for them, and relished in insulting the unclean. News media regularly ran polls asking if the unclean should be arrested or fined. Public figures openly and proudly spoke about witholding medically necessary healthcare from the unclean - letting them die. The unclean were removed from organ transplant lists, condemned to almost certain death. No end date for these measures was ever suggested, no timeline given. To the contrary, this was called the "new normal". Criticizing any of these developments made you a social pariah, and likely cost you most of your friendships and family relations, if not your job. The lesson of the Holocaust - and of covid - isn't that Germans or Albertans or people of the 21st Century are uniquely gullible or evil. It's that for most people, "morality" is not a matter of principle, but rather of adopting what they perceive to be the dominant group ideology - even if that ideology is marked by wanton irrationality or brutal inhumanity. Indeed, as in certain cults or gangs, the brutality or irrationality of the acts or beliefs required to signal group inclusion further entrench people into the ideology, rather than repel them; a kind of perverse sunk cost fallacy writ large. So, yes, if you're a typical person - Albertan, Canadian or otherwise - it is overwhelmingly likely that you would have been a Nazi if you were born in Nazi Germany. If you cheered along lockdowns and mandates, that likelihood approaches certainty. Repent.

ALLOCATION AND LOCATION This is a completely fair and reasonable question by @kelseyhightower. None of this is financial advice; just my thoughts. The decision at hand is about allocation and location. Allocation is what you own. Location is where you live. And for this crisis, I think location is more important. (So does Ray Dalio[1]). ON ALLOCATION On allocation, people will buy physical gold, Bitcoin, or foreign currencies outside the control of the Federal Reserve. For example, for the first time in my life I saw Indian founders preferring Indian banks over American ones.[2] I don't endorse any particular foreign asset, but some combination of cryptocurrency and stable foreign fiat currency may work. If you instead put money in big banks, or hold stocks, bonds, or real estate...I think a lot of that gets seized. Think about what happened to the Canadian truckers, or even the bondholders of Credit Suisse. If really wealthy and connected people can't protect their property rights from a state hungry for cash, probably you can't either unless you're using "outside money" like Bitcoin, gold, or foreign fiat. ON LOCATION Location is by far the more important decision. Again, like Dalio[3], for years I've thought[4] this crisis may not simply be a "financial" crisis but a genuinely disruptive event. So you want to get to a place that you feel comfortable and where you trust your neighbors. For some people that is their home town. For some that's a red state like Florida. For some it's a country like El Salvador, or a city like Dubai. For some it's the land of their ancestors, if it's doing all right these days. As @JonathanHillis put it, a high-trust society is the ultimate store of value. I do believe in Bitcoin but I also believe in the public good, and what you really want is a peaceful walk down the street in a calm neighborhood. Location is more important than allocation. The financial censorship of political enemies is something we’re used to seeing under authoritarian regimes. No one was surprised when Russia froze more than 100 bank accounts tied to opposition leader Alexei Navalny. But Canada did it too, locking more than 200 accounts of people protesting vaccine mandates. #Kennedy24

I only watched the first 3 minutes of this but it’s basically like WEF on acid.
Today we learned Vitalik Buterin did an interview with infamous "guru", Sadhguru, on "Consciousness and Technology." Needless to say, we are deeply troubled and are considering selling all of our Ether. youtube.com/watch?v=wqhExnIR…

I’m really enjoying using @SwanBitcoin. I DCA a few USD each day into BTC automatically, then auto-withdraw regularly into fresh addresses using zpub. The nicest & most Bitcoin-friendly onramp interface I’ve used tbh. Ref link: swanbitcoin.com/blec
