As I wrote in a guide to surviving demagoguery 8 years ago, if you favor Trump or some of his policies and support him in good faith, make a list of things now you would be disappointed if he did or did not do. Try to keep yourself honest if you can. Don’t join a cult.

The US Senate that just begun its work has only 3 states with split party delegations - ME, PA, WI. That’s the smallest share of the body in the history of elected senators.

Fun fact: WooCommerce collects your sensitive information without asking for consent. Luckily, it merely consists of about 1000 data points. Let's dive into it... 🧵 Disclosure: I'm a WooCommerce Marketplace partner.

And there you have it. New bill removes funding for this bipartisan child cancer research program. $190 million -- a small drop comparatively -- is now gone. will need to be passed at some other point, if it can get passed at all.
The Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research program was a MASSIVE priority for Eric Cantor. And it was a huge bipartisan achievement in the Obama years. the version under consideration now would allot $190m to fund the program through 2033. That money could very well be gone after yesterday. The consequences of blowing things up aren't always readily apparent

Trump and Vance intervening to personally block states from getting disaster relief - including red states hit by Helene - after weeks of flat out lying to the country about the emergency response is one of the most cynical and depraved things I've ever seen in this town

Sen BLACKBURN is now lobbying Elon MUSK instead of Speaker JOHNSON… if you want to get a picture of the power dynamic.
Passing KOSA will cost taxpayers nothing, but will save countless children. @elonmusk

Of course Biden pardoned Hunter. I can’t even be a little outraged because anyone who didn’t view politics as a morality play with Dem pols as heroes knew he was lying. And almost every dad in the same position would do the same. It’s a fraction as outrageous as Clinton’s.

George W. Bush won by a larger popular vote margin in 2004 than Trump is in 2024-- and he got widespread GOP pushback for his Social Security partial privatization plan. If Republicans think lining up in lockstep behind Gaetz, Gabbard, RFK Jr. is in their political interest...

It’s not that they think they wouldn’t be confirmed, at least not in most cases. It’s that they want to plant a big flag early that there will be no transparency or oversight of Trump's wishes and power. Everything will be like this.
A Trump nominee who can't win prompt confirmation in a Senate with 53 Republicans is someone who shouldn't be nominated in the first place.

So I was trying to figure out how Automattic knows the WP Engine websites. If you actually look at the payload to the WordPress.org API to get the list of plugins, WordPress is adding the URL on the user-agent. There's absolutely no technical reason to do this, it's just to obtain more data. They could just as easily leave the URL out and leave in WordPress/6.6.2. So with each call, WordPress.org is getting the WordPress version number, the website it's installed on, and the IP address it's installed on. All they have to do is check when that IP address changes and they'd know that the hosting provider changed. This is actually pretty intrusive. The API call in this case was api.wordpress.org/plugins/in…. You can inspect this yourself using the HTTP Requests Manager plugin.

Horrible news today: A TX court has upheld the execution warrant for @RobertRoberson, even though there was no crime. This is a legal system that will privilege executing an innocent, autistic man over self-correction. Sign the petition to Save Robert: innocenceproject.org/petitio…
