The Republicans were crushed in the 1974 midterms. Reagan later delivered a speech explaining why: ♦️ “The meaning of the last election will not be found among those who voted. It will be found among those who stayed home—the biggest non-voter bloc in our nation’s history. And why did they stay home? Well, because they said they couldn’t see any difference between the two parties.”♦️ There’s a lesson in that worth remembering. You can’t win voters by simply telling them how bad the other side is. You have to give them a compelling reason to vote for you. Stand for something. Be bold, unapologetically conservative, offer a clear contrast, and most importantly, deliver on the promises you campaigned on. Voters need to see a real difference, not just hear about one.

Those were good times in my and son's OU fandom!
9 years ago today: Baker Mayfield set the OU record for most passing yards in a game with 598 on just 24 completions. Hollywood Brown set the OU record with 265 yards receiving on 9 receptions. OU used the historic offensive day to beat Oklahoma State in Bedlam, 62-52.

Best mini-trail bike ever! If you were lucky enough to have had one of these Honda Trail mini bikes, you had a great childhood. They were so much fun and so reliable. They are now very sought after and restored ones fetch a pretty penny in todays market.

STATEMENT FROM JACK CAMPBELL My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days. It means more to us than words can express. I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time. I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body. I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better. My faith in God has never been stronger. I know He has a plan for me, and I trust in that plan. I know there may be challenges ahead, but with my faith, my family, and so many people in my corner, I know we’ll get through this. I especially want to thank the athletic trainers and medical personnel who responded and cared for me on the field. I know those were difficult moments, and I’m incredibly grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and care you showed me. The way you handled everything and looked after me when I needed it most is something I’ll never forget. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I also can’t say enough about the incredible care I’ve received from the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital and the Detroit Lions medical staff. They’ve been amazing to me and my family throughout this process, and I’m truly grateful for everything they’ve done. To my teammates, coaches, and everyone in the Lions organization, I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. This team is a family to me, and the way everyone has been there for me means everything. I’m proud to be a Detroit Lion and couldn’t ask to be surrounded by a better group of people. One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit. That’s exactly how I’m going to approach this challenge. Please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. We feel the love, and I can’t thank everyone enough. God is good. My faith is strong. Jack Campbell

This woman is a vindictive bitch. And a traitor. I sincerely hope she is held accountable.
🚨 WOW! Traitor Elissa Slotkin just got caught on undercover video admitting they’re going after Trump and his cabinet. She said Democrats already have “signature cases” lined up for EVERY committee to prosecute the most “egregious” ones the moment they take the majority. She even went to Hungary to study how they cleaned up after removing their “authoritarian leader.” Then she named the White House ballroom, the reflecting pool, and $200 million from Defense. “That’s what you’ll see basically in January.” These people are absolutely sick. They are everything they claim Trump is. 👇

"We don't need baseball on radio anymore." David Samson. Shame, Shame, Shame!!!!!! "Baseball is one of those forms of gentle poetry that runs through our lives, and makes the more important issues of living bearable. You have to have moments that give you pleasure with your children or your hobbies or your games. Life can’t all be big issues and heart surgery. Something has to bring joy into the day. I’ve always thought that the six months during the baseball season, there was something in the day that wasn’t there the other six months in winter. It was not that you had to listen to the game on the radio, but that you could if you needed it." Thomas Boswell. "At a night game, the moon rising out of the scoreboard like a spongy, day-old orange balloon and then whitening over the waves of noise and the slow, shifting clouds of floodlit cigarette smoke. All these we mourn, for their loss constitutes a death." "The Summer Game" Roger Angell.

BREAKING: A MICHIGAN COURT JUST ORDERED BENSON TO TELL EVERY CLERK IN THE STATE TO KEEP THE NOVEMBER 3 POLL BOOKS. The Court's words to Jocelyn Benson, Michigan Secretary of State: "Defendants are directed to instruct all local election officials to retain the EPBs from the November 3 General Election." And Benson's deletion rule? "Defendants are precluded from enforcing Rule 168.48 pending the resolution of this matter." Benson's rule: DELETE the poll book files 7 days after the election is certified. Federal law: KEEP election records 22 months. One township clerk asked which law to follow. Nobody answered. So Michelle McQueer sued. In August, the Court protected her file, the ONLY one known to still exist, and barred enforcing the rule against her. Today it extended that protection to EVERY clerk in Michigan, on an additional request from the RNC and Michigan Republican Party, who joined her case this month. Glad to have them in the fight. Along the way, @TheJusticeDept and the @CivilRights division told the Court the Secretary "remains ultimately responsible" for preserving poll book data. And Benson's own data manager swore the list each precinct downloaded for Election Day "need not be uploaded." Reconstruction is not preservation. This isn't the final ruling. But no November poll book gets deleted while the judge decides. That's all one clerk asked for. ONE CLERK. ONE QUESTION. EVERY NOVEMBER POLL BOOK SAVED. The Order: tinyurl.com/PollbookStatewid… McQueer v Benson, Court of Claims No. 26-000172-MZ Let's make Michigan safe, normal, and responsible again! 🇺🇸 @MIGOP @MI_Republicans @Th_Midwesterner @MINewsSource @stevegrubershow @MrJustinBarclay @JonathanTurley @RobGouveiaEsq @downi75 @Mike_Cox @MrAustinPredict @gatewaypundit @honestpollster @mifairelections @dcexaminer @MZHemingway @jsolomonReports @HarmeetKDhillon
PICK A CRIME: That's the choice Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson handed my client, a township clerk. A new state rule Benson made orders my client to DELETE the electronic poll book records of the August 4 primary within 7 days of certification. What’s the problem? Federal law orders her to KEEP those same records for 22 months, into 2028. Delete them? Face up to 1 year of imprisonment under federal law. Refuse? Up to 90 days imprisonment under Michigan law. Every path carries a penalty aimed at my client personally. For trying to follow the law. My client wrote Jocelyn Benson and the Director of Elections on July 6 and asked one question: how do I obey both? Thirty-seven days. NO ANSWER. So we asked a judge, while the records still exist. No more waiting around. Declare which law controls. Preserve the voting records. And the part that should get your attention: the same rule governs the NOVEMBER election. Johnny Bench played the entire post season with the knowledge that he had a serious health situation. Bench learned in August of that season that he had a growth on his lung that had to be removed. "I was very worried. I found out about it in August. They took all the x-rays, did all the tests, tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, and they did a bronchoscopy but they couldn’t get down to where it was. I knew about it and I knew I was having surgery after the season. I knew it during the playoffs. So if I didn’t play again, I knew I’d been the MVP, I’d been to the White House, I’d done a million things that nobody else could probably achieve, but everybody wanted to achieve. But I wasn’t the same player after the surgery because they cut my nerves, they cut bone, they cut muscle. So I wasn’t the same player. I finished up my career okay, but I was suffering a little bit from that and the injuries I’d had in the car wreck when I was 18 were now starting to surface more and more in my back, my shoulders, and elbows. I needed lots of surgeries and stuff to make it happen." Johnny Bench played the entire 1972 post season with the knowledge that he had a serious health situation. "I'm in the on deck circle, leading off in the ninth, I was very aware that I had a spot on my lung and I was going to have surgery after the season was over, so there was a chance it was going to be my last possible at-bat in baseball. So I'm standing in the on deck circle and the crowd is yelling: "Johnny, Johnny, Johnny!" I'm not paying attention and they said: "It's your Mother!" So I turned around and there was Mom. I know she said: "Hit a home run." "Johnny Bench." Art by Chris Felix.

"I love it when a plan comes together" I had this same thought, but of many similar posts I'm seeing, this one says it best. It's one thing for a front office to SAY it wants to build a winner the way the Brewers have done, it's another to have the stones to pass on guys like Skubal when they come available in July, and pull it off with the roster they bet on.
Brewers 100% deserve this. Stayed true to their convictions during the Skubal saga despite what everyone externally told them to do.
