If people aren't spending Bitcoin at your Bitcoin conference, is it even a Bitcoin conference? Adopting Bitcoin Cape Town had a total of 356 attendees, including volunteers, staff, organizers, etc. A total of 490 Bitcoin transactions were made, spending 1,601,729 sats. I have no idea who did this, but whoever it was, it's epic. I love it! (I suspect some involvement from our neighbors at @BitcoinWitsand.. They're absolute legends!) A 'Study #Bitcoin' sign on the historic lighthouse at the point in Mossel Bay.

This was what I was hoping for. We spent three years building a solid base. That base was not necessarily focused around merchant on-boarding. Instead, it was focused around finding ways of getting sats into the hands of people willing to spend it. Now, with that foundation in place, a solid crew earning 100% of all salaries in #Bitcoin, it makes sense to expand the merchant on-boarding. There's now a high likelihood that every merchant we onboard will have someone spending sats with them on a regular basis. @LuthandoSABTC, you're a legend!

In a way, this is an admission by the ECB that #Bitcoin is, in fact, something that people want to hold, and because of that, it will grow in value relative to the currency they print. Far from having lost, just yet, they are however admitting that they face a serious threat to their dominance of money.
