Maturing as a Black voter is realizing we have been giving our vote away in exchange for spit and hot piss in the face from our politicians & we are in a fight for our futures. JOINADOS.COM because we literally don't have time for this shit. nitter.gq/SonRa9/status/17683580…

We need more institutional control in the Democratic Party. Democrats want us to vote, but we also need to lead & our grassroots organizations need to be in these rooms too

"FBA supporters were never being organized for power, but cultivated as customers" ... Its wild for anyone to not know the difference.
There was never a political plan because FBA is just a marketing funnel built on recycled ADOS talking points. Tariq Nasheed’s endgame was never reparations, but to sell deodorant, documentaries, pepper spray, and build comedy club. Y’all never noticed that there’s always another product to sell, but never a political agenda??? FBA supporters were never being organized for power, but cultivated as customers. You’re Nasheed’s personal ATM & a revenue stream. 🤷🏽‍♀️

In case you didn't know, ados.org is agenda & policy driven. If 2 parties write & pass laws, why wouldn't you try to influence both? Aiight then ✌🏿.

A Democrat running for mayor of LA is not interchangeable with a Democrat running for city council in Mississippi, nor with a Democrat running for public service commissioner in Georgia. And the public service commissioners control whether utility companies can increase your light & gas bills. (In Georgia you should absolutely vote for the Democrats who are promising to keep those bills low rather than Republicans who are paid off by the utility companies.) My point is that we should assess candidates based on what they promise to deliver & what resources they control. A serious political analysis doesn't give any party unconditional loyalty. But it also doesn't give any party unconditional opposition either. Both surrender the power of political negotiation before it even begins. Tariq Nasheed is now and has always been a grifting moron. That will never change. Your only job is to ignore him and make your own analysis of the candidates who are running for office in your district.

Did you ever watch the women on Living Single make fun of each other??? Regine is normally dressed fashionable in a traditional sense, so of course they mocked her dashiki. They would’ve mocked her if she’d walked in wearing a kimono too. We are #ADOS. We roast each other over everything. That ugly tie dyed dashiki got what it deserved. And “division” wasn’t pushed by the CIA or any else. The white media constantly fed us Pan Africanism. The Color Purple, Coming to America, Black Panther, Roots—where we were spoon fed the lie that Europeans captured African slaves with nets. Kwanzaa was started by an actual Fed. All of that was used to neuter our politics and replace political action with an imaginary African homeland. African identification was repeatedly celebrated and promoted in ADOS cultural life. We were hardly deprived of messages about diaspora unity. If you ask me, Pan Africanism is likely a CIA funded operation. It gutted our politics & left us psychologically confused.

Black men, we have to stop asking for opportunities and then doing nothing when they show up. Your situation won't change until your actions do.

Under his leadership, out of 150 promised social equity dispensaries, barely a fraction opened their doors. ADOS justice-impacted applicants took on crippling debt while being forced into predatory front deals w/ corp conglomerates just to survive OCM’s bureaucratic red tape.

City Hall’s play is transparent: Mayor Mamdani will likely extend Linda Tigani’s term for one year under pressure, only to install Chris Alexander to take over CORE next summer. Make no mistake: this is an orchestrated maneuver to dismantle lineage-based reparations. 🧵👇
Mamdani said just now that Linda Tigani will stay in her role for 1 more yr: "We have agreed to extend her term to next summer," he says, adding that the admin is working w the City Council & will have Chris Alexander "pick up the mantle" as the next commish after Tigani leaves.

I knew both Glen Ford and Bruce Dixon (RIP to both) of Black Agenda Report. Both supported my work during the Obama years. Bruce later criticized ADOS as too nationalist and anti-immigrant, but he respected me enough to CALL me before publishing his critique. That’s what intellectual integrity looked like. And both Glen and Bruce believed political people actually DID political things. They believed in organizing, building institutions, and confronting power. One of Bruce’s criticisms of ADOS was that he didn’t believe we would ever build real chapters or an organizational infrastructure. He was wrong. We did both. But even his criticism was rooted in the belief that politics demanded more than rhetoric. I hate saying how dead people would respond to anything, but both men’s essays are still available, and I suspect they would have had very little patience for FD Signifier’s milquetoast, sloppy, political commentary masquerading as radical analysis. So watching FD Signifier bastardize their work on the Black Misleadership Class is astonishing. Glen and Bruce were serious socialist radicals whose critique of capitalism was central to their politics. To watch FD “it’s lit over here” Signifier borrow their language while emptying it of its ideological substance, and then presenting that as some profound political analysis, is an insult to their intellectual legacy. I’m genuinely floored by it. You don’t get to appropriate the intellectual tradition of people who spent their lives challenging power while reducing politics to commentary, branding, and content creation. Y’all don’t despise FD enough. If you want to really understand this stuff, read Adolph Reed’s books, starting with “Class Notes”. He actually created the phrase “racial brokerage politics”. I’m a harsh critic of Booker T Washington, but you can’t criticize him selling out or ‘buying in’ without also seriously interrogating his funding of Black radical journalist T. Thomas Fortune, including secretly helping finance his newspaper, The New York Age. Go read Glen Ford, Bruce Dixon and then the primary sources. FD Signifier is simply a hack.

You ran an alternative task force bill (A5603) after the real, binding legislation was already the law of the land. Your own sponsor stood on the Assembly floor and voted "YES" on the state commission bill you claim to oppose. You got lapped before you even started running.

They reached out last week for an interview this week. It was only a few days notice and I’m on vacation this week. I’m happy to go, I just need more notice.

This is so frustrating because #ADOS has long argued for building power by using our leverage to force the Democratic Party to be accountable to us—its base. A strategy to ultimately change who controls the Party and its priorities. Yet when we articulate that strategy, we’re dismissed as “Democratic shills”. Now we see the same strategy described by Piker as a path to political power. This is why political education matters. Our inability to pushback against the Democratic Party is directly tied to the lack of political education in our community. Organizing to capture power is not the same as organizing to protect those who already have it. People struggle with sophisticated political tactics because they don’t study politics or trust people who do.
As I prepared for the interview by researching his commentary, I realized that Piker is right to complain that the handful of frequently repeated controversial statements fail to accurately represent his worldview. In fact, it’s much worse than those quotes suggest. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…
