Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

Noticed that I’ve been using Google’s AI results more and more while searching for anything. Previously, these gave totally shit responses, but has improved a lot in past months. Easily my most used daily life tool.

However, some social media accounts are indulging in fear mongering about the impact of this incident. The facts of the case are as follows:

Hey guys, after a long run at @epochdotm , I’m back on the lookout for my next opportunity.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve built:
- infrastructure handling 100K+ asset mint operations
- Rust backend & networking systems
- event-driven and real-time WebSocket systems
- @solana infrastructure & smart contracts
- products shipped from idea to production
Now looking for Rust, Backend, Distributed Systems or Infrastructure roles.
Open to full-time, contract & freelance.
If you’re building something hard and hiring engineers, I’d love to talk.
RTs & intros mean a lot.
hey , I’m Sauraj.
21, final year CSE | DevOps engineer.
- In class 11th: worked at PPUI and CipherOS (2021)
- In starting of class 12th: built an Android dump automation workflow that got 500+ dumps
- In the end of class 12th: built a JEE CLI counselling tool used by 3.5K+ users, with 0 marketing
- 2023: worst year of my life. Grinded for JEE and still ended up at a tier-3 college.
- 1st & 2nd year: explored as many domains as I could and became president of one club.
- In the end of 2nd year: started interning in DevOps, the domain I ended up loving the most.
- In my pre-final year: got a PPO at an L2 role.
one thing i’ve realised through all these years: i fkinn love tech and want to contribute to it as much as i can.
So here i am. will share projects, learnings, and try to help folks from tier-3 colleges :P

two minutes into a claude code task, you already know the next things you want. interrupt it, or sit there and try to remember
so i built a third option. a queue next to claude. type it now, edit it, reorder it, park it for tomorrow. it lands when the turn ends

A career update - my contract with @spicenet just ended where I worked as a Forward Deployed Engineer. Learnt a lot there working with my peers, maintaining internal repos, doing integration for a variety of clients.
Now I'm actively looking for a backend, blockchain or rust role being experienced in these. Hit me up if you are looking for such an engineer.
