Old post but just been informed that the Lazer Kiwi now features in NZ's election coverage, incinerating politicians that fail to be re-elected, and suddenly all other election coverage pales by comparison

Everyone’s humanity is diminished when we allow human rights to be discarded.
And today the #lnp discarded children’s human rights.

EXCLUSIVE: In 1995, the bad-ass CEO of Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (Dianne Lucas) went to JAIL to protect a survivor's counselling notes, from her rapist who subpoened them.
Today, 1800RESPECT share those notes without so much as a phonecall.#TakeTheStand

New McCarthyism at Usyd: Not only are Sydney Uni’s new speech restrictions ridiculously unworkable, much more disturbingly they give broad managerial discretion to classify teaching and speech as misconduct, eroding academic freedom and the uni’s very foundations. @NTEUnion

Incredible: AI can predict the winner of the 2024 election. Looks like there will be a few surprises; for example, there's a good chance that Iowa will win Texas.
Pelicans are so great
The pelicans have been extra bold lately, trying their hardest to snatch a free meal from the ospreys. They are rarely successful, but this time the pelican managed a very clever sneak attack from behind. The osprey, thinking it was free and clear, tried to shake off the water weight from the dive, and that little pause was all it took for the hungry pelican to close the gap and its gaping maw around the osprey’s catch. It’s crazy out there sometimes.

I know this is just one of many of daily instances of right-wing brainrot warring against the cognitive functions of average Americans but can you imagine sawing a tree this massive to build a cabin on it & then putting wooden decking on the stump ahahaha

Is this deck amazing or what?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This image is AI generated. While difficult to tell at first, closer looks at parts of the logs that make up the cabin show a bit of blurring and melting together, something that does not happen naturally.

For me this is great but given we are drip feeding announcements it better be followed by an announcement that they will be making changes to stop the next gen running up debts much higher than mine. Because there isn’t much point if they leave the current fee structure intact
